Quick question about stock boost solenoid mounted on ignitor plate.
10:09 PM 8/19/2008
ok, I know that the stock SR boost pressure solenoid located on the ignitor plate is unused when the motor is swapped into a usdm 240.but.....
my question is, can you unplug and remove the two solenoid/sensor's located on the plate, remove the plate, and just keeping the ignitor?
the reason i am asking is because i recently removed the whole plate (just kept the ignitor) and cut off the plugs going to the two boost control solenoid components.i did that while doing my swap, and my car runs like ****. is this my problem? (p.s. when i cut off the plugs, i wrapped up all the wires. they are not touching one another and they are not touching ground.)

Are you serious? You need to know how to get water off your carpet????
Yes, you do not need either sensor plugged in nor the plate to run the car. However I will say this, when you use the boost control solenoid and properly set up the vacuum piping the engine will run approx 11.5 psi of boost instead of the 7.
Neither of these sensors will cause the car to run poorly if they are tripped, wired wrong, grounded out, etc.

thankyou, I would be running the solenoid, but i have an hks electronic boost controller.
Are you mounting the plate on the driver's side strut tower? If so then your igniter chip won't reach. If you plan to run the plate on your passenger side then you'll need to drill into the tower to mount the plate.

Only if he replaces the line that contains the restrictor. If not, then even with the solenoid wired properly he'll run 7psi. I know because I was running 7psi with the solenoid, replaced the line containing the restrictor and from then on it ran 11psi.
Your best defense against a grizzly is to be with someone who runs slower than you.
