Front seat spring noise

Whenever I hit a minor bump in the road I get this noise from the front passenger seat. It sounds like a spring you have "sprung". Happens every time I hit a rough spot. Does not seem to happen at all if theseat is occupied. Can't seem to be able to isolate offending spring. I can also cause it to happen if I hit the seat with my fist. Any thoughts?

I found that if my seat was all the way back on the track that I would hear a strange sound. All I did was move it forward a very small amount and the noise went away.

Is your seat moved all the way back to allow for maximum leg room?

Thanks for the advice. It worked and the noise stopped.Still don't know why the seat position should make somuch difference but it does. Thanks again.
