This is very important, do you have the SL or the LE, and do you have the Navigation System?

Well, then you are set, you currently have an XM tuner that is located near the spare tire. On '09 Muranos WITH Navigation, the XM tuner is integrated into the audio control unit under the dash, thus not replaceable or interchangeable. If you have any questions, let me know, I actually have a few pages of the service manual printed off, but the tuner is located just in front of the spare tire (between the spare and the back seat). All you need to purchase is a new Siruis tuner, and pull out the XM tuner. The antenna lead will plug into the Sirius tuner (you have to cut off a small piece of plastic for the antenna lead to plug into the new Sirius tuner).

Hope this helps, please let me know if you have any questions!

I believe so, I can't say I am 100% certain, but I see no reason why it would not work, I believe they are all the same.

I just purchases a 2009 Murano LE with no navigiation and am also looking to swap xm for sirius.

Is this the receiver to get? Will I need to purchase anything else?

I don't believe that unit will work. dnicect is correct. You need a Nissan Sirius tuner, you can order if from any Nissan or Infiniti dealer. http://www.mynissanparts.com is a good place to purchase from. I also found it here: http://www.grubbsperformance.c...=2905

Let us know if you have any further questions!

Thanks guys for the info. I will probably wait to order mine until I hear how it goes with Dnicect. Then I may attempt to do it myself if it's really easy. I dont know alot about cars so I am very reluctant to do this myself. I was thinking about asking the dealer's service dept if they could do it for me.

Any info on if the dealer would do the swap?

I doubt the dealer would want to do it, and if they did, they would probably really sock you for the labor. It is actually a really easy swap out, totally easier than changing a spare tire, that is for sure. I think just about anyone can handle it, you locate the receiver (near spare tire) and switch out the tuner. You will have to unplug a few things from the existing tuner and then plug them into the new Sirius tuner.

Another future option....

Since XM and Sirius have merged, they may come out with a converter device...

Should work out fine. I pulled the receiver out of my 2005 before I traded it in and installed it in my 2009 in about 20min. Only modification was to the antenna connector. Had to cut off the Sirius teeth so that the XM antenna plugged in.

Leftarm is CORRECT! All you have to do is cut off the teeth on the antenna plug, and it will plug right in.

Greetings to NICOclub! Glad to have you here in the Murano Forum!

Yes, as long as you have XM on your particular vehicle, you switch out the XM tuner with a Sirius tuner just as dnicect did. Let me know if you have any questions!

For those that have listened to both, can anyone comment if one sounds better than the other? Or are they the same. I'm not so much interested in programming choices 'cause I can look that up but I find alot of the XM channels just have poor sound quality that's grating to my ears.

Just found out XM has a package that's called XM with "the best of Sirius"
$16.99 month. Should solve my problem because I want the NFL games incase I'm on the road. That way you don't need the new hardware.

I was wondering about the new packages. I have heard that some of the older tuners can't pick up the signal, PLEASE let us know if the new Sirius packages will work on the XM on our '09 Murano. THANK YOU!

According to XM's website, all XM radios can receive the "Best of Sirius" programming.

Welcome to NICOclub! Thanks for visiting the Murano Forum, we welcome Pathfinder owners as well!

If you DO NOT have the navigation, and you do have XM, then yes, you can switch out the tuner. I am surprised you have issues with the XM, I don't know that the Sirius will be any different, they are technically now the same company.
