I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra. Recently, the second level on the fan control switch on the dash quit working. It blows out air on all of the other levels except for this one. Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?

Probably the switch has a dead set of contacts at that position. I'm not sure if the motor speed is voltage controlled or native windings controlled, but it might be the motor windings for the second speed as well.

Could a mod please move this over to the Trucks forum where this guy could get some good help? Thanks!

Nissans have a resistor to control the fan speed. Could be that yours is going bad. Not sure where it is on a Gen 2 Xterra, but it's down behind the kick panel on the passenger side floorboard on a Gen 1, as well as with many older Nissan cars. The part is under $30 on the older vehicles.
