Hi guys,

I bought a 16 gig flash card to hold all my mp3s on it. I've copied them over on the flash card but my 08 G35 won't recognize the folders that I have created on the disc.

Does anyone know what I need to do so that the car will read the directories like on a burned mp3 cd?

thanks

Man what a let down.... The tech package and music system on the new 08 G35s is horrible.

After numerous hours of testing here is what I have been able to determine.

1) The indash CD player can play mp3 discs but...2) The CD changer in the trunk cannot read mp3 discs.3) The flash card reader can only read 6 directories worth of music. So even though I bought a 16 gig flash card, the g35 will only randomly read 6 directories on the card. So unless you want to have a ridiculously large amount of files with no way to sort through them, you dont really have another option.

Has anyone figured this out yet? We bought a compact flash card and copied all of our Itunes onto it and nothing happened. We keep getting a error message which says that it can't read the files in the car. How do we format the card? The songs are MP3s aren't they? Every compact flash card says that it is just for pictures. There is no way to format it for music as we know it. HELP??! Thanks.

You must format the music into mp3 format. Itunes does not use mp3, it uses its own format, I believe it's m4p.

The only program that I know of that can do this is roxio 10.

After much deliberation on the car I've come to the conclusion the only real way to effectively play your music in the new g35 is to just buy an ipod for the car and plug it in. I've purchased an 80 gig ipod refurbished for about $200. Boy do I regret wasting money on the tech package with the 2 gig hardrive in the g35. It's a real joke.

Also, I believe the car can only read flash cards up to 4 gig. After that you have problems.

good luck

Extremely disappointing. I went through same exercise as JamesP before reading his post. Any chance Infiniti will release a software patch to address the MP3 for trunk and flash card issues? I'm going to definitely call Consumer Affairs as they advertise MP3 in trunk.
