Spy shots of the new Cube posted

Car and Driver published some test shots along with a nice speculative review of the 2010 Nissan Cube.

lol i read this in a article

While commuting in a Scion xB, you might find yourself at wide-open throttle during an occasional bout of friskiness (or panic), but otherwise you take it easy.

In the Cube, you rarely have that option. You put the gas pedal to the floor every couple minutes just to keep up. This is driving on the edge, an opportunity to put your GT4-honed hand-eye coordination to work, to be fully engaged in what you're doing. This is one of the few but nonetheless important joys of driving an underpowered car — especially one that looks like a toy.

hopefully the price stay around the 11,000 base that it is suppost to be

I think they were lifting text from a JDM model Cube vs. xB comparison that they did last year. That would have been the 95 hp Cube.

I'm fairly certain we'll see at least 122 hp 1.5L engines in our Cube's here. It'll never be mistake for a sports car, but it should at least be capable of freeway speeds without laboring too much.

I doubt we'll see $11k base prices. I'm going to guess the base will be around $12.5k to $13k with higher end models coming in around $15k.

Still a great bargain.. especially if they can make a run at 40mpg.

Keep the price low, use a more powerful engine than the JDM version, and don't mess with the styling (I see they already screwed up the grille). THEN you have me as a customer, Nissan.

well still even like the highest package's are suppost to be less than the base model xB so that will be good

Personally.. I think it will be a great success.

Two years ago our collective desire in vehicles was very different. That's why the Scion xB was marginally successful at best. They really only catered to a niche group of buyers. Since then, they've gone the wrong direction by increasing the size and decreasing the efficiency of the xB.

Nissan on the other hand will hit a market this is still struggling to keep it's hands on large vehicles, yet cannot afford to pay for them, nor continue to pour so many dollars in the gas tanks. The Cube will be able to offer large interior size, low curb weight, high gas milage, and a very low price.

Sounds like a winner to me!

This is PERFECT for me. I need a city car with style. By the time the Smart made it here, I was tired of waiting, not to mention the price gouging.

the jdm motor needs to be turbo(ed) and the usdm needs to be underpowered, then we can swap in the jdm motor and call it a day.

I like it, I might even go test drive one because the versa was such a let down.

why didn't they compare the jdm Cube to the jdm bB? IIRC the jdm bB had a puny 1.3l motor?
