Going to my brothers place I hit 2 tires on the highway going 80. The tires look like they came off an 18 wheeler. My front bumper is gone, right side skirt is all jacked up and I have two flats on the right.

Good news is yesterday I switched to royal purple. Also I got new Hawk Hps brake pads and they are amazing. From what i can remember...

I will post pics up tom showing the damage

Man sorry to hear that.....Hopefully there's no mechanical damage. You could still rock the hell out of a front bumper-less car, say it's weight reduction.

Ya thank god I didn't total mine. That would have been years of work gone.

I dont have full insurance so most likely I will have to pay for it to get fixed which really sucks.

Since im replacing the front bumper is there any after market that you guys like thats under $450ish? If im going with stock im at least going to buy the 06 front bumper which seems to look a little bit better.

Go stock, aftermarket will break easy on cheap ones.

Go drive a Cavalier if you don't have full insurance. Even my Spec V has it.

Thanks.

I have liability which is close to $3500 a year. For full insurance It would be close to $6500. If i had the money I would have full insurance but for now im doing the best I can.

Im pretty sure I will be going stock. I really wish I had the money to go with after market but the stock isnt bad at all.

Melon don't worry about it, you get what you can afford, unlike Richie who has worked since he was 11 can afford full insurance which brings me to a thought. . .I bet the car is on a family discount because i know full coverage would be ridiculous on a special education kid.

Melon, as long as you have insurance it's all good. That's better than some smucks out there who still drive w/ no insurance.

Good Luck with the repairs. It could have been worst.

If you pay more than your car payment for the insurance, you shouldn't be driving it.

That's a very reasonable logic, don't you think?

Try a better insurance company or just lose the points on your license.

You still pay too much dude. I paid $150 a month for my RX-8 and 240SX combined. And no I'm not a 90 years old geezer, I'm only 25 with one 'official' minor accident under my belt.

True that man, but I love the z and im not sure what other car I would get. I do think of selling it a lot especially because of insurance rapping me. I live to drive and it wouldn't be so bad if I was just making a little bit more money

Melon dont worry about Soravia it cheaper to insure a RX-8 than a VW Beetle because it is classified as a 4 door coupe and as for the 240SX they just throw that in on a multi-car discount , and he is 25 years old. If you want to work to get what you want then by all means do it.

Soravia, of the 3 other forums you should be in why dont you head back that way here is the linksNon Z forum shouldn't even post this, nevertheless: http://www.rx8club.com/index.p...eff7a and this one too!! zeroforum?id=44 and my favorite: zeroforum?id=17

Been to the RX-8 club, I've gone to the Maxima club to. But now I'm messing in the Z forum because my 240 is getting a Maxima VQ and Z33 6 Speed :P. I'm also planning to get Z33 aluminum bumpers cores.

I know Z is more expensive than RX-8 (due to the SPORT part). But $300 a month is bull-crap. I looked up for the Z when I bought the RX-8 last year and I was quoted $200 range, same as the RSX. $300 is just too much to be able to drive your own car.

I would sell that used car lot you have, forget about the engine and transmission swap, and with all that money buy a Z and get the feeling we have and stay in our forum. Go for it you can do it.

If I was to buy the new style front bumper 06-08 what else would have to buy to make this work? or it just a direct replacement?

If the Z had the same feature RX-8 has but with the VQ (preferable in 2.5L to 3.0L) I would have bought it already.

But the Z's 3300+LB weight, 2 seat puts me off. It could have gotten a lot better performance and gas mileage if it was less than 2900LB. RX-8 has more seats and doors and still less than 3000LB.That's why I want to put a VQ in RX-8.

If it works for you good luck, seems like alot of trouble to me when you could buy a base Z and mod it to get whatever you are looking for regardless of the weight. But nevertheless I guess the Z isnt for everyone.

I hope so, my 240VQ is a step to there. Modding the RX-8 will be a lot more difficult though. Both the VQ35DE from the Z and the RX-8 body wiring are a lot more complex. Not to mention the cost.

But yes, I still love the Z, especially with G-Nose and hood buldge. The RX-8 has them too, but NISMO Z is more aggresive.

Yeah man I understand time and labor and all that because of my job as a web designer but it seems like it will cost alot as you stated. Do you think that the RX-8 will out perform the Z.

A lot of people say that it handles better than stock Z on same level. probably as good as the NISMO Z. Reduced weight probably has a lot to do with it. 400lb is not something to shrug off. With the VQ weighting nearly as much as the RENESIS, I would say having a VQ in the RENESIS would totally kill a lot of cars. They are also just about the same length as well. But RENESIS is a lot lighter on the top because of the plastic intake and round engine. So balance might be a bit off with the VQ.Z has heavier wheels in the back compared to RX-8. 22Lb RX-8 wheels would make less traction on launch but also have better acceleration at the same time. All in all, it would handle great, have a ton of power and still save gas over both. rX-8 Diff is about 4.44/4.77 compared to 3.9 on 350Z. Good for acceleration with less top speed.RX-8 also have very good interior, especially on GT versions. Insurance on RX-8 is about 40% less than 350Z (at least it was for me). Insurance people won't notice a V6 engine under all the plastic covering.

The best of both worlds, if it is pulled off correctly.
