Post

The day has finally come that i am able to partake in all the posting and showing of my project!

Previous Project Complete

With my previous project complete (2002 Lancer Es). I am ready to move on to a more powerful and different type of driving, RWD.

For this project i spend about 6 months of planning and researching just on the different styles, The history of the s-chassis and the many different things you all do to your nissans.

I really have to say that this site and its forum are FULL of information. Some easier to obtain then others but FULL of information none the less!

Also a large number of you are very nice and very willing to help and give feedback on just about anything. Thus i am happy to say i am proud to now be real part of this community.

Now on with the pictures!

1993 Nissan 240sx 188,850k Miles on the beast.Engine Bay. When i first bought it in 2007 I was still finishing up my other project. So small things like Oil Change, Sparks, wires, Fluids and regular up keep were done to it just until i was ready to start anything big.

interior. The interior is not Shot to hell but it is banged up enough for me to want to have everything re done and or replaced. Such as the ugly tweed on the doors and glove box. New carpet and head liner. Front and rear seats in a new material. I will post more pictures of the interior as time goes but as of right now the sun is not really out yet its still hiding behind the clouds.

I also noticed today that my dash is in great condition given the age on it. Steering wheel is cool but i did not do this to the car. Was done by previous owner

From what i know the car is pretty much stock. The front end is a Pig nose and if i am not mistaken the 93 comes with the "Chuki"(sp?) front end.

Only thing i have done to the car besides clean it and change out the windshield is clean up the center console.

Now as for future mods go. I do everything in reverse. Exterior(Paint Last), Interior, Suspension Wheels and Tires. THEN performance.

One thing about me that is a habit i can not seem to shake is that i am extremely fond of rare or harder to find parts. And if i LIKE them i am willing to go the distance to find it. With patients and strong will you can achieve almost anything. Well after a year of looking it finally paid off.

Durable Hard plastic GtR Grille.

The cleanest set of "Brick" headlights i could find. That almost look as if they have real CF rolled out on top of them. Not sure but it looks good it will stay on weather it is real or not because i like it .

Fenders with little damage. Head light supports

Cut from car. 180sx Quarter windows.

Zenki Turn signals.

And last but not least A very clean Aero Front bumper that i am very thankful for. Courtesy of BJ the owner at PandaGarage.com THANKS MAN

Sorry i got myself in the picture, lol I look cranky :P

Just a few minor scratches.

Next i will be hunting for 180sx Type X Side skirts, tail lights, and rear valances.

If you have not guessed by now i am going for the Sileighty look. I noticed a good number of people do not agree on calling a 240sx that has been converted a sileighty or even a 180sx. But i am a strong believer in " if its yours you can make it and call it what you want". So this to me WILL be my sileighty once the project is complete. Besides all of our cars WERE made in japan and sent over here for American market, Correct me if i am Wrong so u could say there is a little bit of Japanese spirit (JDM for you other fans) in all of our cars.

I still have a load to learn about RWD and Nissans but hopefully you and the community can all help me out on that part! Thank you for checking out my Post and accepting me into the NICO community!

In short. The speed that which a humming bird moves its wings Is amazing. ( up to 200 bps ) Which is what makes it possible for it to be so agile when in flight. Their ability to angle feathers precisely while their wings are flapping at that speed is something i find very cool.

They are beautiful. And this car will be as well. Guaranteed

The hum it will make when i am done will be that of a hummingbird.

My goal for this car is nothing to extreme compared to the SR power i have read about on this forum. 300 lb-ft of torque should be a quest but nothing i cant be patient for.....

And i wanted to make sure to steer clear of anything like "Night Phantom" or "Swollen Ostrich"

!!UPDATE!!

Well I had an awesome birthday back on August 28Th, Turns out my girlfriend had surprised me with some 180sx Manuel Seat belts and i have just not had the time to put them in. Well after hurricane "Ike" finally just got done passing. I FOUND THE TIME TO INSTALL THEM!....

First thing was first i had to wash my daily driver after all the Rain!

So ya after all that and a hard days work i got home and noticed that there was a package waiting for me on my bed ALONG with my really cute puppy!

Unpacked Everything. Came with EVERYTHING i needed. A-Pillars B-Pillars and Courtesy Handle ( which of course is on the driver side in my car )

Installed Everything fit like a glove!

Only problem that i ran into with the entire situation was that the mount holes for the courtesy handle support bar were not threaded. Kinda Good thing because i can thread it and use my OWN hardware bad thing is i lost my little tool that does all that. But i called a buddy over that had one and all was well!

Mounted and A-Pillar Placed.

Another thing that is an easy fix is that the 180sx JDM A-pillars are thinner near the headliner then the USDM spec A-pillars thus leaving a gap between headliner and pillar. I am thinking i will just find me a 180sx headliner. Should fix the problem no?

In the end it all worked out! here is a better picture of my project!

Thanks for checking out my thread guys!

Long Live The Tiesto Army!

as for the headliner, you can always go to a fabric store and just cut your oun headliner to fit. jo-ann fabrics carries headliner material.

Is it like that hard stuff? or would i lay it over the one i have now and just extend the fabric to the pillars?

Welcome and good luck with Project Hummingbird....you are on the right track. You seem to be methodical and to have good taste going by your prior project. Are looking for FB or OEM when it comes to the 180sx type X valences??

Well u know what honestly i don't really know haha. I was kinda wanting to put it on when it was going to be painted and slapped on with all the rest of my body parts.I was thinking about getting them all painted at the same time with the car. I dunno every time i look at it though i get really ancy and want it on right then and there.I still need the OEM type X side skirts and also the Type X real Valances. Along with kouki tail lights and then a Charge Speed hood. Well see though. You think i should just get it on there and out of the way?Another thing was i will be buying the URAS 3-Duct for my front bumper. yes i know i should not cut an Aero bumper but i have faith that it will look good. Thanks for ur support and feedback man!
adrians_s13 wrote:looks like you're off to a good start. Any plans on suspension? I'd hate to see a nice sil40 with a huge asss wheel gap
Well as far as suspension i plan to go with all SPL parts. Coilovers , White line sway bars , Tension Rods, rear upper arms, rear toe rods, rear traction rods. Most the bushing kits they offerfront fender brace , and a nismo power brace. IF i can find the Miracle Crossbar for sale somewhere that thing is beautiful and i would like it just because it looks so nice.A nice pair of 18inch wheels and some good tires have not been decided yet though. What do you think? Thanks for checking out my thread!
-RJ- wrote:holy crap your black?! nice project, silvia front ftw
Yep i sure am, So if my brother. My dog is brown and my parents are white. We were adopted! Thanks for noticing hehe.Thank you for the support! and yes the Silvia front end is very Beautiful in my eyes.

Thank you very much! Yes i like to take it slow and TRY to do things right the first time. Does not always work out for the bestbut thats how you learn! Thanks for your support and feedback. I will be looking for the entire 3pc set OEM i will only be going FB with my chargespeed hood.I have read to much about people having fitment issues with non OEM stuff and if i am going to pay butt loads for other lil things i might as well not cheap out on the rear valances.Plus the fact it came off a real 180sx Makes me happy inside ( as lame as that may sound haha ). Thanks again!
