iPod interface intallation for 05 Quest

Hello, I was wondering if anyone here has done an install on their own for an iPod interface in a 2005 Nissan Quest. The audio shop here on base wants 150 bucks for the job. I would rather pay thirty for the wire and then do the job myself. So my first question is if anyone has undertaken this themselves? My other question (which I am sure is the first of many for this project) is how the hell do you get the shifter knob off in this vehicle? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
