twin turbo is not an easy swap, not everything swaps over like you'd think and theres lots of modifying to do.

the hardest part about twin turbo will be the plumbing for the turbos and intercoolers and more than likely id have to relocate the front turn signals some how so i could get air to the SMICs....a FMIC just wouldnt fit....i wonder what the weight difference is between a vg30de and a vg30dett.....im definately still entertaining the idea of a vh45 in the J and i know that it is in fact 3 lbs lighter than the NA vg simply because its alluminum(sp)....craigztoyz up in Austin said hed be willing to do either swap for me as i dont have the time since im offshore so much.....all i know for sure is that im going to do something....at the moment im leaning towards the VH simply because it has a hell of a torque curve and i wouldnt have to worry about forced induction to get that....sorry for rambling but ive got time to kill before my safety meeting as i just knocked off a little over an hour ago....so elwesso im assuming you say go with the V8 huh?

read the posts in the J forum. I dont think the plumbing was the biggest issue, it was mainly fitting the downpipe past the steering column and the oil filter..

I figured the VG even N/A would be way heavier than the VH45.. I'll have to do some more research, but the VH is around 500lbs with all its accesories, and the VG30 is about 600lbs with the same accessories... Twin turbo might be a little heavier considering its got beefier manifolds, and of course, 2 turbos..

I still think that since the J30 came with a VH in japan (VH41, but still, basically the same engine in Japan) that a VH swap would be way easier.. Look at the thread in the VH forum, one of the posters thinks you can even slightly modify the stock mounts and bolt it in, which would be awesome!

I think getting a front clip of VH41de j.ferrie from jap might be easier.

agreed, but since in the US there was no such thing as the VH41 prior to 1997 (in other words, no OBDI VH41), do you think itd be difficult to find one? Its not like picking up a Z front clip or something...

Hell, if you could do that it would be a 100% bolt on affair.
