The factory alarm does not have any shock sensors so it wont go off if the window is broken It is however tied in to the electronics of the car, if you so much as press the unlock button, or unlock it manually at the interior door handle, the alarm will go off. (Many aftermarket alarms wont go off until a door is opened but they have shock sensors to make up for that) Factory alarm also has a hood pin so the alarm will go off if the thief was to first try popping the hood to disconnect the battery
If the thief breaks the window and crawls in, they can make as much noise as they want as long as they dont open a door
Im sorry to hear about your break ins, im surprised they went for the qx4 though... its only to break in and take stuff, they arent going anywhere because of the chipped key... are you leaving nice things out in plain view?
Here in my town the main problem is honda theft, QX4s are kinda useless to break into unless there is something nice inside for a crackhead to take
