Hey guys, as my title suggests I own a 2001 qx4. Does anyone know what the parameters for the stock alarm are? Is the alarm supposed to go off if a window is broken? If it does, how long before the alarm times itself out to prevent battery draining (if ever). I've had my car broken into a few times (broken window) and I was just wondering whether the alarm ever went off (I found out the next morning on my way to work). Thanks!

The factory alarm does not have any shock sensors so it wont go off if the window is broken

It is however tied in to the electronics of the car, if you so much as press the unlock button, or unlock it manually at the interior door handle, the alarm will go off. (Many aftermarket alarms wont go off until a door is opened but they have shock sensors to make up for that) Factory alarm also has a hood pin so the alarm will go off if the thief was to first try popping the hood to disconnect the battery

If the thief breaks the window and crawls in, they can make as much noise as they want as long as they dont open a door

Im sorry to hear about your break ins, im surprised they went for the qx4 though... its only to break in and take stuff, they arent going anywhere because of the chipped key... are you leaving nice things out in plain view? Here in my town the main problem is honda theft, QX4s are kinda useless to break into unless there is something nice inside for a crackhead to take
