I want to find one on CL, but I have no idea what the search term would be other than "chair and ottoman," but its to broad for searching. Personally, I call it a "man chair."

I can't be of much help, but that's the "trademark" design of some semi-expensive Swedish (or Swiss, or something) company. You can tell by the runners on the side. Dad's got one, it's nice.

That's a Stressless brand chair. http://www.ekornes.no/us/stressless/

My grandmother has a few of them. They're pretty dang comfortable, but I don't know if they're worth the money.

That style is fairly common. They are all based on the Eames Lounge (the insanely expensive Eames Lounge).

Wow, so those things are super expensive! Are there any similar knock offs? I want a man chair, but I don't necessairly want a recliner. I want something modern, classy.

I'm open to suggestions...

I call those TV chairs, or TV loungers. Perfect for playing a few rounds on the video game, or just watching an awesome movie in your home theater.

To find the chair you pictured on CL just search for "leather chair ottoman". It's hard to narrow it down more than that. You can throw the term "Eames" in there; some people incorrectly use the term for that chair. You can find those chairs for less than a couple hundred bucks if you live in a big city.

There are many quality fakes of the Eames lounge chair (pictured above) which sell for $150 - $600 depending on maker and condition. Real Eames lounge chairs go for $1500 - $6000 depending on year, finish, and condition. I would suggest getting one of the fake Eames which was made by Plycraft.

You can also find furniture on Ebay and restrict your search to within your local area. Win the auction, then go pick it up.

If you find a chair that has dinged up wood, rub it with a mixture of 2/3 olive oil and 1/3 lemon juice. If the chrome is hazy or somewhat pitted, use Mother's Mag Polish on it. If the leather/vinyl is cracked or dry, use "Aussie Leather Conditioner" on it. I've brought several of these chairs back from the dead using these techniques.

Currently, I have a matching set of 2 of the fake Eames chairs and a real Knoll Platner coffee table (http://www.allmodern.com/asp/s...L1011 ) in my living room. I found them all at garage sales: $75 each for the chairs, $80 for the table.

Edit: Forgot I had a pic of my chairs in my photobucket. I moved these across the city in my 240SX vert with the top down.

Wow, thanks for the info Ishkabibble! I'll definitely be taking your advice and checking my local area for either the knock off or the real thing- should the price be right. Yours look awesome, btw, and I really appreciate the tips for restoring one!

From time to time you'll see those at the most unusual places. I bet I see them for sale ~$100 at Kroger before the year is out. Also, check Bog Lots or any "chain liquidator" in your area.

Does this look legit to you? I know its older, but what kind of durability and comfort can I expect from an 40year old chair?

Looks like the same one I have. Might be real leather on the seating surface, even. The armrests are almost always vinyl.

Sit in it and find out! Check for flattened padding and any looseness / tilting of the chair. Outside of that, any minor issues are easily fixable.

I've only encountered one that was "worn out". It was still fixable, but there's only so much effort I'm willing to put in to an imitation Eames chair.

EDIT: I went and read the ad. It's real leather and is the same chair I have. It's one of the higher quality imitations. Talk them down to the $200 range if you can; it needs a little bit of cleaning up and they've been trying to sell it for a while.

That "wall scuff" on the left side of the chair can be remedied by some light scrubbing with a damp cloth, then after it dries, use a brown "furniture marker" on it if the mark is still there.

Most chairs don't have tall enough backs. Gimme a chair with a TALL back I can lean back in while sitting straight and still have my head supported. Most chairs come up to my There was another chair thread a little while back where someone posted an excellent super-tall-backed chair that I'd love to own.

Why were barstools driving with your mom? Am I missing something? Is that slang? And why was she driving on the side of the road? This makes my head hurt.

Hello everyone,

Eames lounge chair is very beautiful and very comfortable, it could make you sleep when you will sit on it. I also love the gravity chair, very interesting. Wish i could have both of them.

Since i'm new here, just want to ask if when could i post my sigs here? are there any limitations? Thanks!
