Ok, so back in March, the wife, kids, myself and a friend of the wife took a weekend vacation to Okinawa. While there, I had about half a day with NICO's favorite GT-R hater, The Mad Scientist. He was kind enough to take me on base for some BK, browsed around the PX, BX, Exchange...whatever the heck it was on whichever base it was.

We also hit up some of the used parts shops.

One in particular had an RS*R Invidia exhaust for a C33 Laurel. Two things that really got me interested were the oval canister at the back (more clearance on the parking blocks) and the 80mm piping all the way from the cat, as opposed to my exaust only being 76mm. The price was good, too.

Unfortunately, I didn't have the funds, and TMS said that if he ever got back over that way, he'd score it and hold on to it till I had the funds.

Bout three weeks back, I get a call from him, and he says he's at the shop and wanted to know if I still wanted the exhaust. (The guy actually still had it, although, a tad bit marked up.) I said yes, and he picked it up for me.

I had earlier taken off my Night-Pager wastegate screamer to get back to a less obnoxios sound, although, I do miss it sometimes. I had expressed to TMS that I was thinking of selling it, which he was against (I got it from him to begin with), so arrangements were made to send the screamer back to Oki in exchange for the RS*R.

He shipped the exhaust, and I recieved it last weekend, and made arrangements with a friend to swap it out yesterday.

All was going well till we got to the mid section, the part from the cat to the tail section. I, nor my friend, could get one of the bolts loose, and the 17mm box end that worked on one, wasn't working on the other. So, we just threw on the new tail section, and although it didn't line up exactly right, it still looked decent.

Took it to the shop I frequent, and they put it up on a lift so I could get under it with the right tools and got the rusted bolt off, and new stainless ones put on. All it cost me was a Mountain Dew.

Took the car home, threw it back up on the jack stands, swapped everything out, and, whaddaya know, I gots a new (used) exhaust.

Photos taken with my new keitai.

The tip is 130mm, a little over 5" in diameter...lol. WOW. I could actually stick the tip from my old muffler inside the new one.

I also took a video of the old exhaust yesterday, then the new one today, again with the cell phone. The quality of the pic is ok, but the sound is a little off, well, at least on my laptop. I don't know how it will sound on a normal computer's speakers.

Don't mind my annoying voice in these videos, especially the second one.

And don't mind the UK tag in the links.

There is no better sound than an RB20 with a nice exhaust system on it.

Sorry, Seth, had to fix that for ya...lol. I love my RB, but I would so rock a 1J with twins.

I like my rb20det sound better than my buddies 2jzgte. Something just a bit more melodic to it. Personal pref. i suppose.

I've never heard a 1jz though, so I can't make that comparison.

There is something about the 1J and 2J that when they have a good exhaust on them, they sound absolutely hot.

You are right, though, the RB does have a bit mellower tone to it, which doesn't make it so damned annoying on the highway.

I'll try to get some better video of the new exhaust later this week or next, while I am on vacation.

Might go out and do a C1 loop video for ya all.

Check your exhaust often; you may find small homeless people sleeping inside of it.

OK...so it's been almost a week with the new (read: used) exhaust, and I have to say, I am very pleased with my aquisition of this RS*R system.

What I have noticed.

Sound has definately changed, at idle, normal driving, and WOT. Much better pitch to it, too. Seems to have a little bit better response, but I could just be biased because it's new.

The only thing I don't like, and it's more towards my car itself, is that the muffler on the Laurel, as well as the Cefiro, sitt really close to the center of the car, which makes it look a bit odd.

Over all, I rate it a 8 out of a possible 10 for it's build quality (nice looking and strong welds), appearance (polished stainless pipes, muffler and tip), and sound.

I would reccomend the RS*R Invidia.

On a side note, saw a really hot S30 Fairlady with a G-nose on it last night coming back from Tokyo. Damn, I never have my cell with me when I need it for a nice picture.
