Well, I'd be glad to tell you all about lowering an M35x. Not to change your mind but for what its worth.I did this last week with the Eibach kit for the standard M(Eibach #6376.140), had them on for only 22 hours and decided it was too risky. I returned the next day to have the factory springs put back on.
I found a shop who installed them for $100 per corner($85 had I bought the springs from them) and they do a TON of work on Nissans. I got a package deal from Stillen on both the springs and my new exhaust(awesome sound!).
As for the installation, I'll start with the factory ride height. My M is currently in for 30K service but the pre-install measurements the shop took were about 4" clearance in front and 3" in back. AFTER the springs were installed, it was dramatically different!! The front went down to about 1.5" clearance and the rear fender lip was EVEN with the face of the tire. OMG did this car look nice!!!!!!!!!!!! Even with my factory 18" wheels.
I guess I was so disappointed with the final outcome I didn't bother taking pictures but it looked identical to all the NON-AWD M's that I have seen posted on this forum.
Here was the immediate drawback. With the first bump I took evenly across both front tires on the test drive, the front shocks bottomed out! I suppose that while this is somewhat to be expected in a lowered car, I have also since been told that there are NO BUMP STOPS on the M35X.
I will say though that the ride on the straight-and-narrow was really pretty decent otherwise and it did handle better.
So, the conversation quickly turned to what else could I do such as add adjustable shocks. I called Stillen and they said they didn't have any adjustable shocks listed specifically designed for an M35X(including coilovers) but there may be something available this coming Fall.
So, the moral of my story being in sales, half my life behind my windshield, taking clients to lunch and hauling stuff in my trunk, this was just not for me.
With that said, this experiment cost me $800 not counting the springs so I now have a brand new set of Eibachs that I am selling for $190 plus shipping.
