So I flew out to kentucky to get the car and drive it back to NM. It was recently re-built so it had a total of like 8 miles on it before I drove it.
This was the driving trip from HELL.
We get going, about 20 miles into the trip we realize the brakes werent bled. They didnt work.
We stop to try and do what we can and pump them and while we're stopped one of the oil hoses is melting (its touching the exhaust manifold) and I had to remove it. It was the hose that came from the right side of the sr near the back. Supposedly something that bleeds oil or fluids if there is too much boost?
So we get moving again and about 40 miles down the road in Tennessee the entire turbo got disconnected from the manifold. Like the whole thing, while we were driving. Those bolts were real tight were'nt they? lol. Never heard of a turbo falling of ever. We had to pull over and wait for a tow truck to come get us. This was at 2am.
We got towed to Memphis and stayed in a hotel where a firestone was across the street. Went in the morning and got everything bolted up for a hefty price, grabbed a bite to eat, and hit the road. So we were hoping to get home in about 14 hours from there. Oh did I mention we have been driving with a brake caliper completely disconnected and hanging and we didnt know?
We get all the way to texas (200 miles from home) when the car breaks down AGAIN. It cranks, wants to start, but wont start. While I was driving the car just lost boost completely into vacuum and the car just died immediately. Even with it in gear.
We walked 2.5 miles to a gas station near by and in the process I almost got hit by two semi trucks on the side of the road and saw a hitchiker that only I saw. He passed right by me not saying a word, only looking at me, and my friend who was with me (he was further down the same road) never saw him.
I tried everything, adding some oil, checking vacuum lines, checking ecu, checking the safc/maf, checking the FMIC couplings and nothing would let this car start back up.
Wanna know somethin funny? It broke down at 2am just like the previous night. We were stuck on the highway again just outside of Amarillo, TX. We were there for 5 hours before a tow truck showed up. 3 hours into it a cop showed up and thought I stole the car, and checked every nook and cranny inside the car looking for weapons of mass destruction.
At about 7am we got towed to an Ihop. (yay) and was there till 10am when my dad (who had to drive from NM) showed up to tow us home.
Now I'm home, 3 days later with 9 hours of sleep (all took place in the car in corbeau seats) and the car still doesnt run.
Oh yeah, we drove the entire way with just a downpipe, good stuffI got ****ed this time around...
