Ok, so I just finished my first ECU conversion harness. Where you plug in an S13 ECU into your S14.No pics as of yet, but will get them up tomorrow, I promise. This was fairly easy to myself, but I'm a solder/board master.. not really. But I used to repair car stereo amplifiers. The 'only' issue I saw as of tonight, was the car idled up and down, between 600-900 RPM's like it had a stout cam in it. Other than that, it ran good, and everything worked.I got to thinking, that was about what a bad MAF would do. So I unplugged the MAF, and she smoothed out! So I'm guessing the S13 ECU, is looking for an S13 MAF. But of course, my S14 is about as stock as they come, so guess what: it has an S14 MAF!! DUH!?So to confirm this theory, I'm going to swap them tomorrow, and wire it up. See where it leads me.I'm pretty ecstatic, and honestly, surprised it worked! I'm heading to the junkyard tomorrow to pick up some more S14 ECU's, and S13 harness's.

You think there is a market for this stuff? I looked online, and people charge 200-300 bucks for them. I can see making them for half of that, including parts involved.

Let me know some idea's guys. I have a guy that is making some daughterboards right now, that will let you switch between 4 different tuning/ecu maps. So I'm thinking this would be awesome for the S14 guys who want plug-and-play.

Enthalpy sells them for 100 bucks, so im not sure you could have much of a profit with him selling them. Im not sure he would sell one without his tunes though... Hes also been kinda a pita to get in touch with so idk.

Just given you some info.

Def a market for those things though.

Hmm. Didn't realize he sold them for so cheap. But that's good to know. Maybe he wont sell them without one of his tunes/ECU's.

Well, I'm going to the junkyard tomorrow to get some more ECU/Harness plugs. I'm also going to grab the Consult Port plugs and wire them into the harness's. Should make for a better product overall.

Anyone know the rules on where/how to sell these? I don't want to piss off Greg.

Some pics of the one I've already made. Mother flew into town, so I've been busy. But I will be adding consult plugs, and cleaning up the wires.

Perhaps you could sell any harness's you make directly to Jason. He will eventually need them if he stays this popular.

Those harnesses are made by rywire.com. If you contact ENthalpy and ask to buy just a harness, he will send you to rywire.com. And they charge $250. You only get one for $100 if you also buy his ECU (which is silly when there are better/cheaper options out there now).

Idk so much about better, but there are cheaper options.

Enthalpy has such a great track record. His tune kept together the highest hp Ka stock block known to MAN. I had boost spikes of 24 psi and it held my motor together.. You cant knock the mans work. You can say all you want to about his CS and his pricing, but his work is high quality.

WHen I say "better" I mean something like Nistune/Calum. I consider a tunable ECU that you can mess with yourself better than one that's pre-set, but that's just me. You can buy a full CalumRT or Nistune setup for the price of an Enthalpy.

As far as ROM tunes go, though, you're right. He has a great track record.

My tune from Jason at eMance was for 14psi on a GT2860RS (Disco) turbo. I unplugged my wastegate, and was running 26+psi and tapering off to about 18psi at redline. My motor held together fine, and so did the tune. Jason tunes across all the maps, all the way to the end. So if you have more air coming in, you will get more fuel added, and more timing pulled.Just comparing.

He has said already that he will be referring people to me for the harness's. Kind of like a trade off for me giving my first hand experience with his tunes.

I think it's going to work out well. I have a good system, and a good source for parts. I have nothing but time to work on these things, and I can only get faster. Plus like I said, I will be adding a consult port into the harness so people can datalog with whatever software they would like.

People with S14's can't tune their ECU's. Or it's very difficult to get done. But you can tune the beans out of an S13 ECU. So just plug it in, and go! Plus you lose all the extra BS that comes along with OBD2 stuff. And it keeps it to where you can swap back to stock stuff, and put in your old ECU, and get tested/inspected.

No need to explain really. I found some people that need it done, so I'm doing it. If someone needs it done, I'll do it for them.

There is somebody floating around in here, that can tune the beans out of a single slammer. I think it's Mike. S13FX or something is his screen name.

Yeah, we're talking about the S13 DE motor. Sorry if I lead any confusion.

I'm not sure on how much I'm going to charge yet. I don't want to 'sell' anything on here without talking to Greg first. I would like to make it a side/part time job. It's just really hard finding the OBD2 ECU's to pull the female plugs out of.

And I appreciate the compliment on it looking nice. I personally think/know I can do better. That was just a test piece to see if I could do it. The new ones will look a whole lot better.

No kidding!

I did, however, find my stash of ECU's and whatnot to make these during the move. I totally forgot about this stuff. If someone wants one, I'll put one together for them. I just haven't found a good source for daughterboards yet. So no help on chipping as of yet.

You get the plug from your ECU. You have to cut apart your ECU, and take the plug off the board. Or find another ECU with the same plug at a junkyard. Which usually cost a good amount.

I've never used it, nor do I know what it is. I use TunerPro RT for tuning .BIN files.
