Do you have the factory DVD player?

Yes, it came with factory DVD/Navigation. Is there something that I am not understanding from the owners manual. I went completely by the owners manual and I even had my brother-in-law to try it just in case I missed a step, but he was unable to get it to work either. I would appreciate any assistance with this, as my son it eagerly waiting to watch his movies as we travel.

Did you press the rear audio control button on your dash? Do you see a little pair of headphones on your Nav screen?

I have done some troubleshooting and the issue is that the DVD player is operating, the video is being displayed on the rear screen; however, whenever the headphones buttin is pressed, the navigation screen says that a dvd isn't present or detected. Is there any cables that connect the DVD player with the Radio/Navigation console. If I select the radio and press the headphone button the audio is played through the headphones and if the speakers are selected the radio plays through the speakers. What actually controls the DVD audio being played through the headphones or through the speakers?

The headphones only work behind the drivers/passenger seats.

Have you tried multiple DVDs?

So when you press the headphone or dvd button (I forget if the 05 has this) nothing happens.

This is the diagnosis from the ecm regarding this issue.

If you can't get it to work take it to the dealer they should be able to see what's up.

when the headphone button is pressed on the navigation screen, the screen says "no vd", when there is a dvd playing via the dvd player and the dvd is viewable on the screen, its just there isn't any sound via the speakers or headphones when the dvd is selected, but once i select radio or anything other than dvd, the problems goes away.

Yeah it sounds like you may have a problem that might warrant a trip to the dealer.

I figured the issue out...the DVD player is aftermarket, so I have two choices that I can make. I can either find a way to get the aftermarket dvd player to work with the factory radio system or replace the aftermarket system with the factory dvd system that orginally came with the vehicle.

Any suggestions with getting the aftermarket dvd player to work with the factory system?
