It is now the third time this week that after startup, my ABS, VDC and SLIP warning lights would not go out. My system asked me to go to the nearest Infiniti dealer etc. The next time I started the car, there was no problem. Sometimes the warning lights stay on for several hours, sometimes for a few minutes.Any ideas?

I had the same issue.

My issue was that for some reason the computer does not know the straight direction, so you will need to go to a Nissan shop and set the steering wheel's position. That fixed my issue.

This happens mostly if the wire to the steering wheel gets disconnected or you are into an accident and they change the airbag --> disconnect the wire.

Wow, that's a new one. Was yours in an accident? I noticed you are from T.O. Where do you get your service done? Any good shops you know that specialize in Infiniti in Toronto?

I had the same problem a while back but the ABS VDC and Slip Warning Lights permanently stayed on. I took the car to the dealer and they had to replace the vdc module. the mechanic said that a cable was pinched (not sure how that happend) and caused the vdc module to short circuit. Luckly i was still under warranty otherwise i would have paid close to 3k with parts and labor. My car was at the dealer for about 3 weeks since they couldn't find the parts. But in your case it seems it might be a cable or connector that might be loose since it turns on and off.

I know this is an older thread, and I haven't posted on here in ages...

But my 2003 M45 just succumbed to this issue. Everything was fine this morning, drove it into work without any issue, parked outside for approximately 4 hours, went to drive home to grab some lunch and it lit up like a Christmas tree. ABS light, SLIP light, VDC OFF light all on. Drove it home without issue, shut it off, started it up, still on. Checked all fuses, relays... everything fine. New front pads about 15,000 miles ago, along with new rotors. Car was in a minor front end accident (cosmetic damage only) about a year ago. I have about 83,400 miles on it, never abused, no erratic driving... the only recent "change" was that I cleaned and oiled my K&N filter yesterday afternoon. I noticed some residual pooling of the oil in the airbox, but I'm not sure how that could affect the ABS/VDC system. Taking it into the local Nissan dealer (I'm about 200 miles from nearest Infiniti dealer) to have them look at it. Car has been out of warranty since 77,000 miles, of course.

HELP!

I had the same problem with my 06. A part had to be replaced. In my service records it is shown as thus: ACTUATOR ASSY-ANTI S-47660-EH41B.

Any guess on what the cost was?

Woops, actually I was replying to the thread in general rather than your post specifically. My lights would be off when I turned off my car and turned it back on, unlike the problem you're describing. They sometimes came back on during the course of driving. The part was replaced under warranty, so I'm not sure about the cost. Also, before actually inspecting the car, the folks at Infiniti suspected it was the brakes. They said these lights usually come on when the vehicle is having problems with them. You may want to have those looked at.

I'm heading to the local Nissan dealer on Tuesday so we'll see what happens... if they come back w/ anything over a couple hundred bucks I'm selling the car.

The FSM will tell you how to check the fluid.
Here's a link for the brake system...

I had this problem on and off for over a year. Finally found the service manual online. Here is what solved my problem:

Remove the air box (the part that houses the air filter). This will create some room to work. Find any and all ground wires that are screwed into the fender weld. There should be at least 3. Loosen these and retighten. Most people say this problem is a result of the CAM shaft position sensors, etc. no funtioning properly. It's actually the result of a bad ground.

Do this and see what happens before you spend any money.

This is an excellent post!! Thanks. Bad grounds cause HORRIBLE issues and can be a bear to diagnose. When you loosen and retighten make sure the connecting points are clean. You can use a pencil eraser to rub off any corrosion you find.
