Post

ok, so i have a 1992 sentra SE-r with the SR20DE motor with 173k miles on it. here's my dilemma, i'll accelerate typicly to 3,500 rpm and shift with regular driving and will have plenty of power in that rpm range, but, when i try to accelerate to the red line, 7,500 rpm, i feel a loss of power in the higher rpm range. i have done oil/filter changes on it, i have run injector cleaner through it, i have cleaned the MAF, and i replaced the plugs and wires all with no change. the only things i can think of that might work are the cap and rotor, the coil, a possible plugged CAT, malfunctioning TPS, or badly clogged injectors.

anyone ever have this problem? it has a lot of miles but should still have a lot of power.

the only thing else that i can tell that it does when above 3,500 rpm is that it starts to make a moderate tingy sound, it sounds great up to 3,500 rpm but afterwards it sounds like hell.

HELP PLEASE!

The SR20DE's powerband is in the mid-range. There's nothing wrong with your car.

If you want more power up top, get some cams. A header and intake will help a little bit if you don't have those already.
