So I had replaced my rear brake pads about 10 months ago, and already, its time to replace them. When I back up, my brake pads sound like they are honking, and the pads were uneven. Last month I took a little drive, and it it sounded like the pads were rubbing on the rotor at 65 MPH, without touching the brake. I am wondering what can cause this. Thanks for the help!

Have you had the rotors checked out?

I replaced them too. The ones that were on it were warped, and my new rotors are getting there already also.

Sounds like the calipers are binding. Is there excessive tension on the parking brake cable? The brake handle should come up and fully engage after x number of clicks. (I wanna say 6, but I could be thinking of another car)

the boots are ehhh... when I had to push the piston thing back in, it looked like they used pliers to turn it, and it had rips around the outside of it.The rubber piece around the piston thing is what your talking about right adrian?

yup.

it's probably already seized man... either get them rebuilt or find some used ones for cheap. Same thing happened to me... my passenger rear's boots torn and seized... I'm loosing pad, plus my wheel gets all dirty quick because of the brake pad dust.

Luckily I found a dude nearby that sold me both his rear calipers for $5.

awww dude you are lucky! Are the SE's and the base rear calipers the same? The other day, I drove home from work, (maybe a 5 minute drive) touched the disc, and burned my finger. Touched the front, not nearly as hot.

I don't, I just talked to a dude that said that he'll sell me his from a wrecked SE, he said the only difference was the ABS nonABS. too bad he had ABS. It was a killer deal.
