Well I just started it but decided to start this topic so you can see how badly it fits. It doesn't fit at all but I'll try to fit. By getting a progress I will post more pics. I also started to do angel lights for it.P.S. Since I don't have too much free time I guess it will take a while until it will be done.

Did you buy headlights off ebay? I saw a set for sale a few weeks ago and figured some one would pick these up to do a retro.

Looks like you will have to do quite a bit of cutting to get those in there. Unless you keep it forward like that instead of sinking them all the way back.

I have a question though, does the orange reflector easily come off once the headlight cover is pulled up?

Yes I bought off the eBay but not the set. There was only one for sale. The set of headlights that you talking about went for $200 and I wasn't ready to give more than that plus it was $50 for shipping. Still it is cheap for brand new car. The yellow piece comes out really easy if you would like to remove it. I bought projectors off the eBay for $150 as well.

ok. The yellow piece is glued to just a couple spots. Here they're and later I'm showing the picture how it looks without yellow piece. Also I just finished fitting it with my friend and we painted some area to black. Now its time for angel lights and make the second headlight. It took us like 3 hours to cut the headlight to make it fit. Also I'm putting a over sized turn signal that does not fit at all originally.

I really appreciate the pictures...thanks!

Did you have to cut out the reflectors for the turn signal and low beam? or did they just come out? Ive been toying with the idea of smoking my headlights.

They both come out but I had to cut the low beam reflector. Didn't touch the turn signal reflector but I will have to cut a little bit. I painted the area around the high beam but as you can see I left untouched the high beam inside.

I also had to cut the projector holder to make it fit.

Almost done my angel rings. I took the rings out from 120mm CCFL computer fan. Hopefully I'll finish my project next weekend completely.

Impressive

If it wasn't for the legality issues in most states I would say you may be onto something with this. I really like it though, congrats on the originality

Just in case I'll put a switch for the rings so I can turn them off anytime because of the law. BTW I think it should be ok during the daytime. The more important question will i pass the inspection at the dealership or will i have to go to a smaller shop to get it done? On my Audi a4 there were blue turn signals from walmart that getting almost white color but with bluish addition to it. The guy didn't want to give a sticker because front turn signals have to be amber and can not be any other color including white.

Yeah the guy doing your inspection puts his job and inspection license on the line with things like blue turn signals. It's a judgment call they have to make. While in most states it's an automatic reject, some don't have yearly safety inspection but although they look really good DIY headlights are not DOT approved for any use.

I still don't see a point why he has to be a jerk with that. Its like I passed the inspection with amber light drove away across the street and got my blue lights installed again. He's not responsible for it. I will get a ticket in this case not him.

I know what your saying but the other point of view is:

As a safety inspector I have to certify that this car will safely make it 12 months until the next inspection with the components on it now. He is responsible for your inspection validation and its his as* if he passes you with blue lights, he knows that only amber lights will pass. There are somethings like tires that are a harder call, but lights ,aftermarket and/or non DOT certified headlights, tint(some states), or windshield chips are easy things to fail someone for because they actually fail the inspection per the letter of the law.

I think most states have slightly differing laws in regards to the technicians liability with things that the owner changes after inspection but I am sure the inspector is not looking for any problems. You are free to anything you would like to your car but it is not a requirement to pass it because some things (cool as they may be) are just not safe.

i really like the retrofit. Wished the rogues came with jdm projectors or something so i could buy it instead of doing work. I like the q45 projector look but maybe ill try a pair of different projectors onto my rogue housing.

I probably could make another set but problem I don't have enough time. I started this project in june and just got it done. Also I will need pair of headlights and projectors. These projectors are hard to find unless you go with aftermarket ones from ebay.

With my luck of free time it took me about 3 months at that time. With my new management job and my girlfriend it will take me probably a year.
