'01 QX4 Lights and/or Ballasts acting up

Hey everyone long time no post. So I did a search and coudn't find anything regarding this issue, maybe it's just me.

So here's the deal. I'm driving up the beautiful 405 freeway going through Manhattan Beach and my passenger side HID went out. First thing I though was "Damn that's gonna cost me!" Before getting home with a crooked looking car I stopped to get gas. At the gas station I played around with the light switch and ignition a little and it went back on.

Monday night both my headlamps went out, I pulled over and turned the engine off and back on and they came back. Are my ballasts going out? Are the HID globes failing? Anyone experience this before? I'm expecting to change them out soon because the truck has 170K miles on it and those haven't been replaced yet.

time to change the bulbs, i had one go dim and when they pulled the bulbs they were both cracked and were replaced. $400.00

sounds like a wiring problem or maybe the ballasts are going, its weird how its acting up like that I havent seen that before

actually I just had one of my factory HIDs go out

if you need anything as far as HIDs let me know, DO NOT SPEND $400!! hahaha I'll hook you up alot cheaper than that if you need bulbs or ballasts or both

I have the same problem on my 01 QX4. I have my headlight in "auto" and once in a while when I pull the turn signal, the headlight got turn off. I have to turn the headlight to "on" and they turn on again.

I just realized that it's happening exactly the same way. Turn signal seems to move a wire around. Does anyone know a good fix for this? Does the turn signal control have to be disassembled and re-soldered?

I replaced my ballast but the headlight still doesnt work. Do you need to replace the bulb with the ballast?

Did anyone ever find a fix to this problem? Having the same issue now with my 01 Qx4.

Same problem here. When using turn signal and it clicks back in place one of my lights go out. Doesnt matter if in auto or on position. I just know im gonna popped for DUI leaving bar one evening with one f***n headlight lol

I can't believe I never posted my fix to this issue it was a lot simpler and cheaper than I expected. All you have to do is replace the control unit/turning signal assembly rod thingy. It's gotta be a wire is wearing out or something. All that needs to be done is remove a few screws, disconnecting a few wires and that's it. I think it cost about $80 for a new assembly, i can't remember if they gave me a discount or not, I think they did. Let me know if this works for anyone else!

Can you get OEM stuff or is it all aftermarket? Got any links?
