driving my car today and everything was fine, shifting smoothly minimal play in the shifter when its in gear. parked the car for a bit and came back out to it and the shifter seems very sloppy, lots of free play in it while its in gear so i took it home and took all the rubber boots off to see but i couldnt really see anything. my first guess is a shifter bushing? any other ideas

More than likely the bushing on the bottom of the shifter, Mine busted and I had this problem. I made my own, Didn't think they made a replacement. But they might.

think i found a part number so i punched it into a nissan site to make sure the number was still being used and wasn't replaced or anything and its calling it a socket assembly-control lever

does this sound like it?

how did you make your own?

will the s13 bushing work? I found the part number for that, 32861-h7301 and figure it may be worth a shot

and if the stock s13 bushing works then id imagine the cusco one would work as well http://www.aspecproducts.com/s...earch

I made one out of aluminum on the lathe we had at school at the time. took me about 10 mins.

Im sure the KA one will work, I used my entire Ka shifter in the rb25 trans.

this is the part number i used. called up to nissan and ordered it and they had it within a couple days. its a bushing for a truck

rb25drag: ive done some research and found that alot of people are saying the KA shifter will not work in a RB25 transmission. how did you get it to work?

It was an aftermarket short throw, It basically fell right in, Had to get some longer bolts for the clamps, But works great.

This is the same shifter I bought about 5 years ago:

If you have the Rb25 trans I know it will work b/c Mine did. But you will have to buy some Longer hex bolts, The ones they supply are too short for the 25 trans.

RB20 and RB25 shifters and bushings are different sizes. The RB25 uses a bigger bushing versus the RB20/S13/KA.

yea idk about that the shifter it self will work i have used it, but the bushings are different sizes. but as far as bolting up a short throw idk. the rb25 has a slant (45 degree angle ) to it, ka and rb20 sits flat. their was a wright up way back when

well the bushing was indeed the problem, got that all sorted out now

used the s13 ka shifter bushing, nissan part number 32861-h7301 and with a few light taps of the rubber mallet it went on great

So question for you all, my RB20 has that problem and it has a lot of ****er play. How bad is that to have, and is it something I need to fix ASAP?
