most big power CAs in the past did not use the stroker kit. That big swing limits RPM and the lil guy has to scream to eat enough air to make big numbers. On the street light to light it's a benefit but if you want maximum power and top end it's a step backwards IMO. I was even thinking about destroking the CA.

at this point info vids and pics of CA18s is like bigfoot sightings unfortunately. The 600s is the most anybody was claiming, Munson and Norris. I saw a passing reference to a 700hp 1.9 Silvia with a T88 but only once. That leads me to believe it was a typo or it blew up; a 700hp CA18 would have been very article worthy.

Push your own CA to the outer limits and then see where you stand against those that have come before you and those (like myself) that are presently trying to push this engine to its limits. Be your own target and set your sights accordingly. Dee
Who's selling their CA18 next ? Forged pistons are no insurance for ignorance . Spending money foolishly doesn't equate to a high hp car . Being cheap all the time equates to a waste of time Dee

boost boy and chosen one why you guys knocking this man so much. first he asks about max block pressure/power and chosen thinks he doesn't know that different turbos @ different psi flow different amounts of air.this stuff happens to much you guys are making assumptions off his question and responding to that, not the actual question at hand. As inspirational as your posts are I'd stick with the ole "if you don't have anything informative to say don't say it at all"

I would think any response to such a broad/vague question would be appreciated. I feel his curiosity, but can understand exactly where boost_boy is coming from. "Build it yourself and find out" is the only true answer to be honest. So much goes on behind the scenes in the real world vs the internet. Dyno 'numbers' and quick ETs may look impressive at face value, while telling you nothing.... like, did it blow up 2 minutes later... or was the car a tin-can... was water/alky inj used... nitros.... etc...Mobne runs oe nissan crank and bearings. Simlar? turbo ~2bar, with 260/8.8 tomei cams. 497hp on hi-grade pump gas ? I'd start there for a hi-strung target and try to improve on it.

As inspirational as your posts are I'd stick with the ole "if you don't have anything informative to say don't say it at all" | Some of you knuckle heads don't read well. Obviously the information on the internet is minimal, so again, it's time to stop chasing ghosts and/or hearsay or rare internet sightings and go pave your own way. Oh yeah jt15833 and ks13, I think I've earned the right to be able to pass on such a comment to someone that has great aspirations from the CA18DET. I've built better than 30 CA18s and have done some damage to a few of them, but never have I seen one trash it's block with my naked eyes. I've pumped over 30psi of efficient boost from a 60-1 through an engine I'd built on pump gas with 3 people in a fully loaded S13; only to tear down the engine out of curiosity and see little to no wear on bearings, rings and pistons. Now, something could go wrong and send a rod outside of a freshly built CA18 with saaaay: solid lifters, expensive rods and pistons, etc, etc, etc. Bottom line is anything can happen at anytime or he could very well achieve his objective, but we just don't know. After 11 years of dealing with the CA, I happily stand behind my post. Not knocking the man, his ability nor his engine, but to be chasing pipe dreams is an understatement. One should do themselves a favor and make their own history with this motor and not worry about who has the biggest crank if you understand what I'm saying. And by no means am I one to distract anyone, but in order to run with the best or to try and get into the league with the best, one most focus on himself, his personal contributions and dedications to his cause (first and foremost).
