  SRI on a CVT Sentra

Has anyone installed a SRI (Short Ram Intake) on a CVT 07+ Sentra? I interested about the pros / cons of installing it with this transmition. Any input is appreciative.

Modz: Stillen Strut tower brace, Piaa 7500K Parking lights, Sylvania ST13H headlights, Weapon-R SRI, Blue led interior lighting, Shark fin antenna.
Coming soon: Catback exhaust(BRM if available), Eibach Pro shocks, 17" Motegi SP10 Hyper Black.

I love mine. I bit more power, but a bit more noise as well, which it to be expected.

i will warn you though, the old airbox is a horrible PITA to remove on both the 2.0L and 2.5L

If and first you dont succeed, You failed.

The reduction in restriction in the intake system (i.e. increase in intake efficiency) will give you a bit more power and fuel economy regardless of transmission.

Engine power is irrespective of the transmission. The CVT is tuned to hit the most powerful/efficient ratio depending on throttle position. An intake, for instance, increases power throughout the rev range, so whatever power increase you get at whatever rpm the CVT "sticks on" will be there regardless. The CVT can't cut the amount of power the engine is giving it at a given rpm.

Here you go, BTW you are gonna have to remove the battery in its entirerty to get the bolts at the bottom, so you will have enough room to pull the airbox out.

Your SRI should come with instructions, but the info posted above will definitely do the trick.

The pics are probably from a 2.5 cvt but the diagrams are from the 2.0
It is indicated in the top right corner of one of the pics the MR20DE.
The information is correct.

Hey Dark,

Did you get the SRI installed yet? If you did, how does it sound? I'm just curious because I thought the CVT would sound a little annoying because there is no pause (gear changing) while driving.

I want the Weapon-R but not too confident on how it will sound. Thx.

Nope, the pics are from the 2.0L . Im the Tech for the Car club im in, We have (2) MR20DE, and then my Lonely QR25DE. So i have pics for both.

You can also tell the above pics are the 2.0L simply because the air filter is different then the 2.5, also the snorkle end is a compleletly different design. The MR20DE uses part of the battery tray as the intake piping, the QR25DE does not.

gotak,

I installed the Weapon-R SRI about a week ago. It sounds great. With smooth acceleration you hardly know the difference, but rev the engine up and after 2000 RPMs you'll hear the it. If you have an exhaust, or Catback system, you notice the symphony between intake/exhaust.

All in all, with just the intake, I gained about 10hp, but my MPG(25/34) reduced to (22/31).

So... just the results I found so far.

Probably lost MPG cause you're enjoying the noise . Could also have been variances in traffic levels. The want to make noise goes down a little bit with time.

I'm so tempted to get the Weapon R and an exhaust but it's my everyday car, I don't want it to annoy me and others all the time.

Dark,

Got any video or audio clips? I got a CVT 2.0 and I'm dying to hear what it sounds like before I start saving up some cash for an intake and exhaust.

Unfortunately, I do not known a video cam. I know someone that does. I'll see what I can do to post it as soon as I get the clip.
