Ok, I have been getting A LOT of crap from friends/locals for choosing to boost my KA24E...but I'm doing what I want, what I like....just tell me I'm normal, b/c around here, if it's not an SR, people think it's crap...I really don't care what the "honda" guys think...

Anyways, the reason I am choosing to build a SOHC is b/c I have (2) running motors..my 1990 coupe rusted to hell and back.....so I pulled the engine, all other salvageable parts, etc etc. I also have a 1990 hatch with a 60k on a rebuilt stock motor...the car is rust free and runs perfect.

I plan to slowly rebuild the pulled engine....new pistons, etc...I'm not going forged due to I really only want to get 250-275hp, and through the hundreds of posts Ive read, stock internals can handle that power easy...

Let me tell you what I have done to my hatch already, and the future plans:-tein lowering springs, kyb agx struts/shocks, 3" stainless exhaust with stainless header, "apexi" n-1 style muffler (already on there when i bought), energy suspension master poly bushing kit (still need installed), suspension techniques sway bars(still need installed), 18" konig caffeine rims (already on when i bought, plan to change), DC Sports front & rear tower strut bars....

Future: rebuild and turbo the sohc, (i wont bore you with the details, since I will be following the posts on this site)....new clutch, lsd, paint, rims

Just want to share my 240 plans with others that love the 240......i'm stuck in honda-ville with no one to appreciate anything with....

I personally like the DOHC better, maybe its because most of those fast ka-t are DOHC. This is totally up to you though, just knowing that you are going ka-t you are pretty much good. Good luck with your build and make those non-believers into Believers. you'll love the power.

The DOHC motor is better by design...but the main reason you see more high hp DOHC motors is simply because they were installed in everything from 91-98, where as the SOHC was 89-90. So not a fair comparison.

The SOHC has low compression from the factory. SO it will love 8-12 lbs of boost.

Anyone that says you're stupid for turbocharging the motor already in the car is an idiot.

Happy Boosting

The one advantage to the SOHC is camshaft selection. You have a lot of room for a lot of camshaft.

If you stay on these forums long enough and get involved enough with your car, they probably won't be your friends anymore. I would only consider myself friends with maybe nine or ten of the guys in my car club. There aren't a lot of people that take cars seriously enough to make a hypothesis based on data that matters.

keep in mind, all those honda fans are into "higher revving" motors...

tell them to try to punch themselves in the face real fast, while trying to headbutt their fist even faster

seriously anyone who tells you to not do something is because they are ghey, and know the future for them, getting pwnt. A half *** kat will smoke alot of cars. especially hondas

I put together a t25 setup and 11 psi for under 300 dollars. And it was killing people.

the new setup I have like 30 bux cash and a few things traded in, is way sicker at 5.5psi already, with a bad seal and leaky h/g so def go t3

I ran against a friend of mine with a sohc. his motor was built with 8:1 comp pistons and such, he was running 15psi, where i was running 10psi on my dohc with the same turbo, t3 super 60. I beat him buy about 5 cars.. anyways, I think it was the fact that I was running stock 9.5:1 comp and he had only 8:1 comp... but yeah, basically I was running 280hp on 10psi.... as long at your car has good compression and is running fine, then you'll own up most cars you see around on the streets. Don't worry about it, they're just either retarded, or jealous. Either way, you'll smoke em, and they'll be crying, and maxing out they're credit cards to try and beat you.. but it's no use, ka-t is the pwnage.

oh, btw.. i'm drunk , but I think I know what i'm talking about?

over the years i have simply accepted it... and chalked it up to guys just being posers and non mechanical.

I don't know how many Sr and Rb guys call me when their perfect swap is ****ed up.

BUT I already had :walbro,afpr,ability to rom tune(sohc ecu hacked onto a dohc)300zx filter,random pipes,coupler/hose clamps.

lol its for sale, now I have the t3 setup. Needs injectors, oil feed and a staggered gap piston seal for turbine side. shoot an offer lol, end thread jack.

Alot of people are just mainstream tuners and do what everybody else is doing. They want to do things for everybody else's opinion and not their own. That how alot of honda people are. The KA is a great motor don listen to these ppl who tell you other wise. the torque will make you smile from ear to ear when its all said and done

if you have the money adn will, you can make anything fast. all engines have potential.. unless proven otherwise.

those honda guys and sr /rb ppl are porbally only putting you down cause youre not blowing 6k getting a "JDM TYtE" swap/hype. why toss an engine thats perfectly fine?

remember to go laugh at them when you only spent your 300$(or whatever you spent, but probally nothing past 800$ unless ur hardcore, i personally spent 650$ for my setup) on ur KA-t to get the same amount of power(and more torque) as their stock sr. lol. your ka will also have more power readily useable in the low-mid rpms whereas hondas porbally have to be redlining the whole time

I say go with what you start with. If i started with a dohc i would of boosted it but, since i have the sohc i boosted it instead. I decided it would be better to boost the ka24e for the same price it would cost me to swap in the de. I put together my old t25 setup for 600$. Its the same reason most people boost the KA.....they dont want to put a few grand into a swap to only have 200-220whp. Of course you can pull out the "IT'S JDM TYTE YO" card if ya do choose a swap.

The main thing is to do what you want and not what ever one else wants you to do.

The fact i have a boosted nissan and not a honda makes me a out-sider in my town. ....but, i like doing something different.
