The reasons for this swap to gain popularity will be it's low cost to high benefit so I hope that the kit will be priced competitively enough as to cause this swap to gain ground. Then again the kit does have the downside of making the vh as common as oh say the sr...

Perhaps you should look into it. Even though there are more S chassis around, the typical owner of these cars are HS or College students and won't have the means to spend that much. Those that have the means, have likely already gone with a SR20DET swap.

I think there is a market for the Z32. I'm 39 and much rather spend my money on a Z32 than a S13 or 14 chassis. I don't have either, but if there was a Z32 kit, I'd buy one just to do the swap and have a kick *** car and I won't be confused for a drifter kid (hey, no offense to anyone, just voicing my opinion).

A VH swap would turn things around for the Z, making them highly desirable to the people that fell in love with them in high school, like myself. Most gearheads don't want to mess with a V6, it's just not manly enough. The TT v6 is killer, but the VH is an even better platform provided companies such as Mazworx keeps investing in aftermarket parts for them.

After driving my VH powered Z for less than 200 miles I can say that it is truly intoxicating, I am addicted, I don't care how many times I have to rebuild it, it's worth it.

loads of aftermarket, light as hell, pure ease of modification, dime a dozen.

its just simple understanding when people want to swap on of the beefiest motors nissan ever made in to one. id personally prefer a 240z...

So, Mazworx doesn't need to develop that much for the Z32 - mostly the subframe, additional ancillaries and perhaps the wiring harness.

The stock Q manifolds will fit as long as you de-glove the heat shields from them and hack off the cats. After that you can do what I did and cut the stock Z mani's and graph them together. This allows bolting up to the rest of the stock Z exhaust system. MFG some similar log style headers that bolt up to the Z system would be really easy.

The wiring harness has been figured out for the Z, there is a big post on this somewhere around here.

The bonuses are the stock cruise control system works, a/c hasn't been done to my knowledge but I believe it will fit and work with custom hoses, consult works, stock guages work, etc. It's the perfect engine to swap in any nissan due to nissan's "lego" designs.

Actually the wiring diagram is already available here on NICO. I know because I posted it! It's complete, has been vetted with other members, and Craig (craigztoyz) has verified it during his conversion. It's called "VH45 to Z32 complete wiring integration document. It's either on the first or second page of the VH45 forum.

I spoke with Mark about the posibility of the Z conversion at some length on the phone, but like Mark said market demand will dictate the production of something turn-key. From experience there are a lot of tweaks to the oil-pan, cross-member, etc. that have to be done so there is some work required as well as a physical car requirement for them to do the work. The exhaust manifolds "may" work but I believe the steering shaft assembly on the Z is positioned slightly differently so the headers would probably need some work as well.

But I agree with you there is a good foundation to start from......

Fully agree with your points. Also, when I get my custom sway bar back, Addco will have the design on file if someone wants to go the same route. My bar will mount on the rear "rails" and come forward versus front to back like the stock one and is fashioned in such a way that the geometry isn't affected. It'll be 3-way adjustable (first hole being stock swaybar rate, second 15% stiffer, and third stiffest or about 30% stiffer than stock).

Also the 1990 (or that generation) P/S pump from a Maxima works very well and has a smaller pulley. Using it frees up a lot of space on the LH side and provides pretty good placement for the plumbing. I've posted some pics in my thread regarding this.

So there are some things that will become more available going forward making it easier for others to do themselves or to bundle into a turn-key solution.....

And are you guys messing around with valves and springs as well?

One question for everyone. Is there a Stand Alone ECU that can work with the VH45DE? I've heard that theres nothing to plug the Cam Shaft Sensor into...am I just misinformed?

They would have to change the springs to get any more lift with their cams, as the stock springs are nearly at coil bind with the stock cams. Not to mention their terribly low springrates...

There are many standalone options for the VH, nothing plug-n-play, but lots of systems that work. Search this forum, as there have been many topics on it.
