For those of you not familiar with the helpful acronym used by tazdevl, it means "read the f**king manual". Tazdevl, lets do that now. Page 3-6 says," An INFINITI dealer can customize this function to unlock the doors when the selector lever is moved to the P (Park) position form the other positions. Contact an INFINITI dealer for details."So, your answer really doesn't do much to move the inquiry along. Perhaps, had you read the manual before responding, you would have understood my question. "

It seems like a lot of things in this manual say "go to the dealer". I'd really not have to make a trip to the dealer to unlock functionality in my car that I paid for.

Update: went to the dealer today and asked for them to explain how to do this. The change was made, but there is no way to do it withou the Infiniti computer plugging into the car's module. No explanation why it takes a dealer.

Yes. The dealer used its computer to plug into my car and made the adjustment. The tech specifically trained for the EX was on vacation, so the tech who made the change had to search a bit, but was able to find the option and make the change. Good luck!

I'm resurrecting an old thread because I've now decided I want this done to my car too.[Hey SteveTheTech ... perhaps you can shed some light on this. ] So, anyone know of any way for an owner to do this themself or is a plug-in to Consult required? TIA, David

Hey there guys. There are three different choices you have when it comes to the Auto locking function on the door locks. 1-Locks at ~15mph and unlocks when the Ignition button is turned off. 2- Locks when the gear shift is changed from Park. Unlocks in Park with key on.(My personal choice) 3- Off, no auto lock operation. The Consult III and a trained tech are required to make the memory change in the BCM. It is just part of the software and is not changeable any other way. There are a few other things that EX owners can set, the puddle lights are really easy to initialize and turning the Auto locking feature off is also pretty easy. The OP is right in this case and that is exactly what it says to do, . That is the information they should give you

I'm writing to confirm what you say is true. My dealer told me so and I had him change the setting to lock when out of park and unlock in park with motor running. Took a bit of arm twisting to get them to think how to do it but in the end well worth the effort.

Was done for me the other day by the dealer, at no charge. Works great!
