i am thinking about getting one of these. my cell phone contract expires soon, and these are free on tmobile's website. does anybody have any experience with them? the specs are good: quad-band, microSD slot, slide phone, color screen, AIM, camera, etc.
and what exactly is hotspot @home?
Most of our projects focus on taking apart a perfectly good car and screwing it up. At least that's what the masses would think. In personalizing, customizing, and focusing our cars on performance above all else, we inevitably upset the delicate balance of ride and handling, horsepower and fuel economy, and perhaps even styling and anonymity that the OEM spent so many billions of dollars to achieve. Whatever, we think they're better.
Hey Daniel, I've had a little experience with this phone, as my friend's mom's boyfriend has it and I've messed around with it a few times. However, I seem to have had the same problems with all Samsung phones, which was that the battery life isn't fantastic. If you don't mind having a phone charger with you every now and then, like at work or in your car, I'd say go for it. It's a well-rounded phone that you can get for 200-250.
As far as the T-Mobile Hot Spot thing goes, I don't know a lot about it, but from what it seems is that you set up a small wireless node in your home that basically extends the cell site range for T-Mobile so others with T-Mobile get better reception around you, while you make free calls from your own home. It's basically T-Mobile setting up tiny cell sites in local areas so everyone with the same service gets better reception. Good luck, hope this helps.
^ I have a samsung t509 now. the battery lasts me a solid 3 days, and I've been using it for 2 years now. the only things i dont like about my current phone is that its a triband, and i can't set mp3's i import as ringtones

That was my first phone from t-mo, i figured out a trick to getting ringtones without paying for them, just get one phone that has the mp3 you want as the ringtone, sync the 2 phones via bluetooth, then transmit the mp3 and you can use it as a ringtone.
^ i've been hooking my sisters razr to the comp and transferring mp3's, then bluetoothing them to my phone. i can use them as alarm ringtones, but not caller tones.
the phone came yesterday, and im a bit disappointed. it is restricted up the @ss. I have bluetooth, but can only connect to a handset. file transfer from phone to phone is disabled. I have wifi, but when i connect to my home's wireless router i cannot access the internet. Idk about custom ringtones yet, but this is gonna need some hacking to work okay.
