  2002 SE-R engine removal

This question already asked once but want to see whatpeople says again.

my car has a 2.5L w/ 5-spd and my simple question is: can I pull the engine out of the car with the transmission still in the car. Is there enough room in the engine compartment to do it. With the trans still in car can I unbolt engine and move it far enough away from trans to pull it out of car.

Or can I remove the engine and trans from the car together.

  2002 SE-R engine removal

This question already asked once but want to see what people say again and need more reassurance. thank you

my car has a 2.5L w/ 5-spd and my simple question is: can I pull the engine out of the car with the transmission still in the car. Is there enough room in the engine compartment to do it. It looks like a tight fit.

Or can I remove the engine and trans from the car together. looking how close the engine and trans are to the frame of the car it is a tight fit. But can they be removed from the car together.

There isn't a single person on this forum I'd trust more on this question than RED_DET.

If you recall from your first of 3 threads in this forum alone on this subject he said:

THe swap is relatively easy. Just be sure to remember what is plugged into where, I suggest labeling everything so you don't forget. You can pull the motor/tranny together. Out the top or bottom is your choice. You will have to jack the front end up @ least 3 feet off the ground from the bottom of the bumper to get it out the bottom, which requires some big jack stands and using blocks of wood on the jack to reach this point. If you go out the top, remove the hood and angle it out to allow the transmission to come out. Exhaust will have to be removed, cross member, drain anti freeze and remove hoses. Unplug things from the harness, drain transmission fluid, remove axles, remove intake, battery, drain power steering fluid and remove hose from pump.

And, as per the second thread, your best bet is to take the axles out, because you can't go out the top that way:

Leaving the axles in will make it just that much harder. If you do, you can only go out the bottom.

As long as you properly disconnect everything you're really not going to have any problems. It's tight, but it will come out. Heck, it's not even really that tight of a fit. You can look into the engine bay from up top and see every one of the mounts, so there HAS to be room just based on that simple of a visual inspection.

I'm not trying to be a jerk. My point is that the feasibility of doing this has been confirmed by a reputable source. Relax and go for it.

thanks for the reply. I printed that info out so i can keep it by my car when I am doing the engine pull.

but do you think the engine can be pulled with the trans still in car or is there not enough room to seperate the motor from trans to pull it out.

I'm not sure why you're asking this again. Did you not get the answers you were looking for?
