  polishes, sealants and waxes

A recent thread about zaino's spurs this topic. Please share with the forum what polishes, sealants or waxes you have tried on the novel EX35 clearcoat. Also mention the color of your paint, as some products seem to have more favorable results on light or dark colors, as the case may be. As you know, the manual says nothing about this, so its up to us to experiment and share positive and negative results. Thanks,
inteller

Zaino is fine. Platinum Graphite metallic doesn't show benefit from multiple layers of zaino though so less work for me.

My clean/polish/protect regimen is:

1) Clay bar (using Meguiar's Quick Detailer as the lubricant)
2) Meguiar's Speed Glaze #80 applied with a DA polisher (Only if needed due to swirls, which, so far, the EX35 hasn't needed)
3) Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 applied with a DA polisher

Daily maintenance:

1) Oxo Car Duster (or California Car Duster, but I prefer the Oxo brand)
2) Meguiar's NXT Generation Detailing Spray or Ultimate Detailer.

I am anal about how I care for my cars. If it hasn't rained, my cars always look like they were professionally detailed the same morning. It is the daily maintenance that makes a difference! My weekend fun car - a Classic Red 2001 Mazda Miata which is heavily modified - has won a total of 8 trophies in various car shows over the last few years.

The grill on the EX appears to be a chrome-like finish over plastic. Mine has had faint water spots on it from the day of delivery. Washing and drying with a chamois have no effect.

What are your suggestions for deep cleaning it without leaving scratches or swirls. I'm hesitant to use a polish as I understand it makes micro-scratches. Thanks.

It's plastic.
When I have a chance, I will try various products on my salvaged piece and get back to you.
There is a good product for cleaning plastic ...can't think of the name right now...

PlastX.

It is really good for the headlight but you can use it on different plastics.

Thanks, Rubystar88 and Zozo. Once you confirmed it was plastic, I used Plexus, which works very well on tint, and it did an okay job. There are still faint water spots, but not as easy to see.

I plan to pick up a wax this week for my Moonlight EX. I saw the Meguiar's NXT wax and was leaning towards it. Which is better the paste or liquid? Does it really last as long as they say or is it just hype? Are there any other car waxes that you guys recommend? I also had Zymol , Mothers, and Zaino on my list. I read somewhere that Zaino wax is not good for light colored cars. This would be the first time I waxed the car since I got at the end of June.

Most waxes now come in paste and liquid. I have always used wax paste. How does liquid wax compare to paste? I know that liquid wax seems easier to apply, but does it last as long as the paste?

first Zaino is not a wax, it is a polymer polish. Second, it works just fine on light colored cars, you just don't have to put as many layers on to get the same effect as a dark colored car.
