Rough Idle

Hi everyone! I have lurked her often and now have come upon a problem, reason enough to reach out for some help.

I have a 1993 Maxima I just had a engine put in. Brought the car home and have noticed a terrible idling problem.

Car runs fine at idle until you turn the headlights on or the electric fan comes on or the a/c. I dont believe it to be an alternator problem because I have tested the alternator. The car will go from an idle speed of about 800 to stalling as soon as the electric fan comes on.

the other thing I noticed was that it seems to have a power loss up to about 45 and then all of a sudden kicks in almost like the car is not mixing fuel/air properly and takes a will to catch up.

Any help would be GREAT!

Had the same stupid problem on my 93 GXE! Replaced pretty much the entire top of the motor trying to fix it. The engine NEVER showed a code or had ANY of the warning lights come on, but ran like it was missing. Replaced pretty much the entire top of the motor trying to fix it. It was the voltage regulator on the alternator! Seems as though the alternators for these particular cars are not built very well. Replaced the alternator and have not had the problem since. GOOD LUCK!

PS. If they did not test THIS PARTICULAR alternator ON THE CAR, then it was not tested properly.
