Two weeks ago on my way to work i noticed the fuel gauge on my 95 240 starting going to full. I had half a tank of gas when it did that...its been 2 days and its still at Full lol. i went by my trip meters to tell how much gas is left and at around less than 1/4 the needle starts coming down from F and sits around 1/2. ill filled up my tank twice already and each time it does this. I was told it might be the floater, if so where can i find it and how do i fix it? thanks

not positive but i go to school for this stuff and on the end of that ball sack thing that metal "arm" should be some sort of resistor on the end of it, make sure the two peices have contact with eachother sometimes gunk gets between them and it wont send the signal to yiur gauge, check that, take some pics and get back to me

Well turns out i dont have the ball sack thing, i went into the tank lst weekend and turns out the s14 floater is like a huge red capsule, i found it floating freely in my tank so thats why it was messing up i assume, it did have a resistor on it and the wires looked fine, anyway i mounted the floater back to where i think its supposed to go (anyway one know whow the flaoter si supposed to mount? i kinda just threw it on the bracket by teh fuel pump's) i filled my tank up afterwards and now waitng to see if the gauge will go down as i dive, its still at F right now and ive already driven 58 miles. i have my fingers crossed.

I dont understand wh7y its doing this!! my car has only 77k miles... is there not one other person on this ENTIRE forum whos had this problem on a S14?!?! I know there are thousands of S14s with way more miles than mine theres is no way my luck is this bad.DAMNIT SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!

im having the exact problem , my fuel gauge stays at full when i fill the tank , but when i get to 3/4 tank the needle will drop below the E line , then i just have no clue how much fuel i have in the car , i kinda have to play this guessing game .. i have a 14 gallon tank and im estimating i get around 20mpg .. so i have to put gas in at like 200 miles to be safe im not messing my fuel pump up , but oddly sometimes when i come to a stop and im idling for a min or so sometijmes the fuel gauge starts to rise and i have to sit there and block traffic , but at least i get to know how much fuel i have..but this is really annoying and i hate guessing games

When I went walbro 255 I had a good light and had a look-see in the tank. Well I remember seeing the floter assembely on the far passenger side of the tank! There is a internal braket holding the floter to the inside of the passenger side.

In florida a coupple years ago(I think it was shell the only place I go but I only use 93), the 87 octane reg. gas was making everybody's floters stick all around the state! So there was a bunch of people calling radio stashions telling people not to go to shell because they were stuck on the side of the road out of gas when their gauges said they had fuel!

This is a floater for the S14, when I was installing my walbro I thought that the fuel pump was inside this thing! So there I was trying to crack it open (thankfully I wasn't able to). Soon figuered out that this was the "floater" that told my fuel gauge how much fuel I have. It was a PITA to put it back in the bracket, which was already attached to the tank.
