Yesterday I finished installing my new Megan racing tension rods. I set the rods to stock length just for my first run. Installation wasn't bad at all. Overall I was extremely satisfied with the upgrade. So now on to the review.

Note: I installed these tension rods on a car currently running stock dampers and springs.

Pros In quality, the rods looked very sleek, clean, durable, and more than what I expected for the price I paid. The brilliant sparkle blue coat was an added attraction too . Moving to suspension feel, steering was tight, precise, and predictable due to the pillow ball bearings. The bearings also changed how the weight of the car was transferred. Furthermore, going through corners you could feel the front tires gripping stronger improving cornering stability and turn-in. Under steer through the corners was lessen as well. In addition, during straight line braking, the car was very direct and precise. Because of the pillow ball bearings, during braking, the chassis absorbed most of the stress and allowed the brakes to do their job better.

Cons Well I really don't have any cons, but I know it has come to my attention about the ride quality difference from the OEM bushings to the pillow ball bearings. When driving over speed bumps or rough roads (I mean like weathered roads) you can feel the sharp rebound of the front end. The stiff feeling didn't affect me though. It is not as bad as most people claim. However, If you are really picky about smooth 'ride quality' then these rods may not be good for you.

haha. I guess the reason I don't mind the harsh ride quality is because I used to drive a dropped Honda accord. When I bought my commuter car for school, it was dropped pretty low with Koni yellows equipped with Eibach springs. Not my choice, but I needed daily driver fast and cheap because I was racking up the mileage on my 240sx. Back to the Honda, the worst part though was that the previous owner didn't have any suspension components to adjust camber so the tires were wearing out fast.

Since I would be commuting this car, I decided to swap to back to stock dampers and springs. Then I wouldn't have to spend the extra money that I could have used on the 240sx.

But yea, the story of my slammed Honda, been there done that.

ps. I think I'm switching over to adjusting my car for grip/autox.

I got these installed, I daily them and when the weight is transfered from and to, I hear a clunk in my front end. I can only assume it is the rods since that is the only thing that is aftermarket in the front. Besides the JF braise that is installed.
