Yeah yeah, I read all the negatives. Brian don't even start. It's my $ & it's my car.

Here's the question.

Does anyone have one on there Q?

What has been your experience?

Looking at a 2500#cap to tow a couple of PWC's. Not going but 50 miles in either direction. Actual weight will be 1600#'s.

Not looking for; Well so & so says. or If you do that the world will end as we know it.

Would like to hear from real-world users. No nay saying needed.

Thank You

I am not using the PWC's in Merrryland.

qship96 you usually have something beneficial to offer but renting a Uhaul was and is NOT a part of the equation.

Please re-read the post.

Ok, so you wont bring those toys to Maryland, shame as we have quite a fun playground in Ocean City with the Atlantic ocean separated by 3 blocks of land to the Chesapeake bay!

Might want to call a u-haul type place in your area and inquire about renting/buying a trailer tow package{hitch, wiring for lights, etc} never hurts to be sure transmission fluid is FRESH before towing, and auxilliary cooler installed. While it is shunned upon to tow with the Q, as long as you are comfortable with the risk,go for it!

HOLY SH*T!!!!! I've gone through the past few hours of posts and I beleive the qship and Maxnix are on their periods!!!!

Cap't,

On my 97 the frame rails run all the way back (assuming the same on earlier models) and so even if they don't make a prefabbed hitch I bet some local place could mod one for you.

Also, 1600 lbs ain't nothing-especially if you only do it once in a while.

There ya go. Frame rails extend to tow eyes & beyond on my 96 as well.

And yes if i choose to use my Q as a . Well it is my $, it is my motorcar & if if self destructs because of towing well what biz is it to anyone.

I asked if there are Q owners who are towing. How much more simple or direct do I need be?

These are CARS. These are not the HOLY GRAIL. What ever the hell that is.

Just a piece of machinery.

Nothing more.

How bout this. I took 4 hockey pucks, YES 4 HOCKEY PUCKS! Cut them in 2, drilled the centers & carved them to fit between the upper & lower subframe mounts, bolted them up tight. It now rides firm but giving, handles like on rails. Very quiet ride. Try it ,you will like it.

Pucks have a shore value of 80, perfect diameter & very workable.

If all the palm tree wrenchers listened to you guys we would still be on big front wheel bikes.

DAMN GUYS, quit stumbling over your own over inflated egos!

Try to think for your selves, i.e. out of the Q box.

I don't have a hitch on mine yet, but will eventually - My anticipated trailer and hitch tongue weights are less than 4 passengers would impose, so the effect on suspension components isn't a huge concern...

Curt Mfg. shows their model C11801 as being a bolt-on fit for the 1996 Q45 - 2,500 lb. weight rating, 1-1/4" hitch receiver - available from Etrailer for a little under $350.

While I agree with some sentiments of your post, my objections to towing with a Q are not related to it being "a Q." It's just a simple fact that unibody cars do not endure towing well. I certainly won't go out of my way to stop someone from potentially damaging their car if that's what they want to do, but I'd feel bad if I didn't warn them before offering "advice" as far as how to do so.

Subframe connections or no, the car is not up to 1600 lb of towing. Drivetrain might be (probably is for most of us who take extra precautions like upgraded trans coolers). Structure is not. Plain as that. The only current-production sedan anyone should be doing any towing with is a Crown Victoria.

No "Car that Jesus drove" weirdness from me. Just the same comments I'd offer anyone trying to tow with a unibody car--be it a Corvette or a Taurus.
