head gaskets for the Z's are about $200 for a good one, and to change out your headgasket you have to pull your heads off of you block.. easiest done while the motor is out..

What? For you or a shop to do it? Couple of days straight. Engine out, front half of engine off, heads off, machine if necessary, reinstall it all.

Lots of $$$

Nissan just to pull the motor will cost you $1,200, thats just removing the motor not tearing it apart.. But thats Nissan's price, Im sure theres a specialty Z shop around you somewere.. If you are mechanically inclined, just do it yourself..

I took mine in took to get looked at and they told me that my headgasket was possibly leaking because I had white smoke coming out the back. They told me I was looking at about 25 hrs of labour plus parts making it around $2,500+ to get it done.

In your last post it was just mearly a suggestion that your headgasket is leaking. You are going to have to look into it and make the decision before you pull it apart. I can only go from what information you post and don't have access to look at or know the car like you.

Is the white smoke constant or just when you start the car? Is it hard to start after sitting for some time? Do you constantly need to add anti-freeze to it? Other fluid levels stay constant?Leaks under the car?

Sorry man, I don't know anymore. Thought it might be the head gasket because of the white smoke but if it turns blue later on I'm not so sure. What does the smoke smell like? Is your Z a TT or N/A?
