Transmissionon 2000 Max. laughs when passing.

My 2000 Maxima has 162,000 miles on it and the trans. is svcd. regularly by me. It was brought to my attention by my wife that when she trys to pass the trans. makes a funny noise. She is correct, when I try to pass someone I kick it down and the rpms run up to 6000 but the car does nothing 4 about 2 seconds and then it kicks in only to not have the power it once had. Is this a quick fix or is it spelling the impending demise of my transmission.Some times it feels as if the trans is slipping a little but not too badly. Love this site and any help would be appreciated.

You can try flushing it to see if it will help. If it's a ECU memory issue (doubtful on a 2k) you can reset it and let it remap to see if it helps.
