APS builds 557 hp twin-turbo setup for Pontiac G8 GT

APS is in the business of making power and that's exactly what they've done for the new Pontiac G8 GT and its Aussie-spec sibling, the Holden Commodore HSV. The tuner's Stealth Intercooled turbocharger setup uses two water-cooled turbos mounted deep into the engine bay, just ahead of the transmission, to ensure underhood temps are kept in check – road debris be damned...they've strapped its own blown HSV (with a three-inch cat-back exhaust) onto the rollers of a Dyno Dynamics dyno and produced 557 hp and 583 lb.-ft. of torque while running 93-octane.

This horsepower and performance war is really getting crazy and sick. These cars are now one step from becoming full professional racing vehicles, with the comfort of your living room.

They were talking about rebadging the new Camaro as a Firebird / TA, but now supposedly they've decided to name it the GTO, thinking it would bring more people in instead of the Firebird moniker.

^ Im with you...No respect for all american cars.....except the mustang. Mustangs are great...Im not saying that just because my boss owns one and I have like it and say how great the car is everyday I see him...I do that just to kiss some *** and finally get a raise. I accually will be installing KNN intake for him...(that might do it)HEHE

i have to disagree. having had a couple cadillacs, they are fantastic cars until they get old. then they are just big. The General is coming around. They have awoken the sleeping Giant.

LOL, the new Pontiac G8 series isn't even American, is Australian. Its just a rebadged and slightly modified HSV/Holden Commodore. However, its good to see they are looking across the Pacific for real cars

Holdens are great cars. Actually the GTO that came over here a few years ago was another australian car. I believe it failed b/c of pontiac naming it a GTO. The Monaro (ausi name for the GTO) was a GT car, not a muscle car, they mislabled and mis marketed it. Fantastic car any way you look at it.

In any case, I don't consider this car in the picture as competition for the new GTR b/c it's not a factory car. It'd be the same as taking a G and having HKS work it over. The GTR is a factory car, this one is a hauled over by an aftermarket company.

That being said, it's still sick and a fantastic looking car

Cars like this should never be allowed out of the stable.

They are pretty good I suppose, though I personally would not buy one (unless they bring out the Coupe 60).

They are the most popular Australian brand here (behind Ford and Mitus). Big V8 following here, similar to the Mustang obsession over there.

They need to bring over the ford falcon from Australia.

Also the G8 is being badged as many things all over the world. In china it is a Buick Park Ave.

That's pretty serious stuff, but remember, the GTR is coming out in production. That Pontiac is a one-off custom build. You could do the same thing with your G.

Every car mag that has mentioned Buick has said that Buick is the premier car in china. I think it's cool because Buick makes some great under rated cars. I was quite happy with my old Buick. The car is still in the family. When i bought the G i just gave my mom my buick.

I really don't see anything with modern Pontiacs. They make nice looking cars and most have a GXP variant that has a little kick to them. Nothing wrong with a LS2 v8 or a 3.8 v6.

For the price, The G8 is a monster. 4 door luxury sedan with a LS2 V8. Cheaper, Faster, and lighter then a Chrysler 300.

6.0L V8 SFI aluminum with Active Fuel Management;361hp at 5300 rpm, 385lb-ft of torque at 4400 rpm

Yes please!

I wouldn't exactly call them luxury, but they certainly do go.

Bring on the Coupe 60!!!
