has anyone stripped a Q down past the dash? Ive got the dash pad off my Q right now and theres that thick metal support bar going down the middle.. Anyone have any idea how to get that little guy out of there? Do you have to take all the duct work out or is it just bolted in the obvious places? The dash was not that much fun to try and remove...

Are you talkong about the 2" diameter steel pipe that runs from left to right, or the thinner strips of metal behind/under the center console?

I just got done gutting the '91 for parts for the '94 about 20 minutes ago. (goodbye LAN system )

The framework for the dash is shaped similiarly to the symbol for pi.

On a side-note, the footrest below the parking lever is actually a bracket held on by 3-4 screws.

Which means plenty of pedal travel for a clutch pedal once the bracket is removed.

Now that is useful information. I have always thought that was likely part of the firewall satmping.

The 2" bar that runs from one side of the car to the other between the "A" pillars?

If thats what you're talking about, then yeah, most of the ductwork will have to be removed, a lot of it is attached to that bar.

The impossible ones are possible with (2) 12" wobble end extensions.

I got it.. I ended up using a regular box end wrench, but i have tiny double jointed arms so it worked.

Wes, you are in for a big job as there are bolts holding the dash pad in that require removing the windshield, and then take out the screens covering the defrost vents. If you need your windshield replaced, now is a good time to consider it.

I'll look for pics.

Sorry, but you're wrong.

Windshield removal is completely unnecessary for dash removal.

Look at the pics I posted above. My windshield is still there and the dash pad is not.

defintely.. I did not remove my dash to remove those bolts.. Not easy indeed, but extremely possible...

not to mention, if you yank hard enough the dash WILL come out...

Well, I guess a side benefit will be a spotless evaporator closet and coil.
