  Just a curious question.

Would there be any gains or benefit of getting rid of the clutch fan and going with a powerful electric fan on a Q? Wouldn't it free up some power? Of course I'm talking about using relays and sensors to turn the fan(s) on automatically.

1994 Infiniti Q45 black on black, Tokico blues, Eibachs (I think they're Eibachs, its definitely lowered), Stillen upper control arm and FSTB, Sylvania Ultras, 18x9.5 Enkei Racing rims with Falken Ziexs 245/40/18(shoulda gotten 255s), upgraded 2 gauge ground cables, 136k miles

whatever few hp you free up by removing fan/clutch from motor is lost due to extra demand {load} on alternator. If your fan clutch is working like new,and radiator is efficient, the fanblade is freewheeling most of the time when the car is moving, especially at highway speeds

Agreed.. I think overall electric fans are a misnomer that they actually increase HP.. In NC id think youd want to keep the clutch fan, but it may be slightly different in a place thats really cold and you do a lot of highway driving..

Still i see it being way easier to just leave it as-is and not think about it and possibly spend the money on something that would do more

Electric fans will not be a benefit regarding additional power output of the motor.

The benefits derived from electric fans is increased accessibility in front of the motor and cooling insurance.

By insurance I mean that if you have 2 dual fans setup, (one pushing, one pulling), but you only use 2 normally and 3 when the a/c fan signal kicks in, you'll always have at least one to limp home on if 1-3 fail.

If your fan clutch fails, it can possibly seize, seizure of fan clutch sometimes leads to shearing off at the water pump, leaving you with nothing to circulate your coolant but wishful thinking.

If you're worried about alternator output, get a bigger alternator.

Mmmm, IMPUL Goodness
