I have a 2002 Q45 and I was wondering where is the best place to install the LOC for my subwoofer?

Where are you tapping the signal, or is that what you are asking??

Typically in cars with an OEM amplifier separate from the head unit the easiest place is right at the speaker you would like to tap in to. For a sub signal, that would usually be the rear speakers.

Just make sure you do a clean job because if you dont you will get a lot of interference in your speakers.

I tapped the signal from my rear speakers. I hear its best to tap it from behind the radio but thats just a long extra wire running from the front to the back.

If you have a Bose or other OEM radio with external amplifiers you have to tap in after the amp. If you have a Bose specific adapter you can do it at the head unit. For a typical LOC the low level signal on a Bose radio isn't sufficient to drive it. The purpose of an LOC is to convert high level amplified signals down to a low level the amp can use for its input.

Youre going to get distortion going from speaker level to pre-amp. I would suggest not even bothering with an output converter and purchasing a pioneer or alpine head unit. It will run you between 150-200 dollars when you are done but the end result is only low sounds in the sub and highs/mids in the car. (make sure it has a high pass filter for pre-amp out or low pass filter for the in-car speakers. ) In other words dont crap out on the sub quality when you have bose quality mids and highs. woofersetc.com is a good place to shop for affordable high quality stereo equipment. If thats not in your budget then tap the lines near the head unit. i suggest soldering the wires, tape melts in the summer and twisted wires cause distortion.
