I was looking at used car asking prices of various Infinitis and noticed G20s are almost the same or sometimes a few thousand less as Q45s of the same year and mileage, even though the Q45s cost two and half times as much when new. This confirms what I read in the newspaper about econo cars going up in price while large gas guzzlers are going down. The real sleeper is still the J30. You can get one for sometimes the same or maybe a thousand or two more than a G20 and it cost almost twice as much when new, and they last longer than G20s. I owned a G20 and the nice thing about it was a do it yourselfer could do most of the repairs himself, and after market parts were available for many components. For some years the J30 was the largest seller, and some years the G20 was. The Q45 was always the lowest volume seller, in fact I read that the 2006 model only sold 19 cars in America and wasn't even advertised and they never even printed a brochure for it.

What I find amazing is comparing the current BMW 7 series to the f50 q45.Both were brand new styles for 2002 model year, the BMW was ripped apart by the press for its confusing I drive, complicated operating controls, and peculiar banglebutt styling while the Q recieved neutral to positive reviews, and Infiniti created probobly the best print and television advertising they have ever done {and one of the best for ANY brand, in my opinion}, and look at the fate of the 2 cars. BMW says the current 7 is the best selling 7 series design ever, and almost every other car company has copied that raised trunk look {talk about a trend setter}while the Q limped along from day one on life support and finally evaporated due to lack of consumer interest and sales.Infiniti is going to face an uphill battle to successfully market another flagship model if they decide to play in that arena again, as they failed on all three series of Q45 so far.SAD

Not just the 40% improvement a 2 liter has over a 4.5 but the total cost of ownership: Tires, brakes, fluids, spark plugs, injectors.

If you save $1,000 per year on repairs and mainteance and $1,000 minimum on gasoline that gets significant to some people.

We still see G20 needing the same $3,000 minimum for repairs but the maximum is never over $5-$6K or $3k less than a Q.

Swapping a JDM engine to same high standards as an early Q will be almost $2,000 less and transmission will be $700 less.

I'm surprised that I4 are not selling for significantly more than V8. Just Wait until $5 gasoline.
