I don't think your gas company makes a major difference. It's all about Octane. 91 all the way and you'll be fine (except for Arco...they are really cheap on quality).GJEMD wrote:Also buy good gas like Chevron or Amoco. Keeps oil contamination to a minimum
Mobil 1 isn't regular.....it's synthetic.Mobil Clean 5000 is regular dino.ttsupra26 wrote:if you live in So. Cal like I do, good old Mobil 1 regular oil is just fine
that's right mate^ that's what I meantNightRiderQ45 wrote:Mobil 1 isn't regular.....it's synthetic.Mobil Clean 5000 is regular dino.
Where do you get 94 octane from? (not that I would need anything higher than 91, I'm just curious because I have never seen anything higher than 91 at any gas stations)tooloon wrote:I went with synthetic (Mobil 1). I've always liked it better in my past vehicles... As for octane, I run on 94.... I love the car but I wish the gas milage was a bit better on my M35 though....
Thanks everyone,
Alex
That is not in California for sure ... other states have 93 available as Premium. I have not seen 94 though ...ttsupra26 wrote:Where do you get 94 octane from? (not that I would need anything higher than 91, I'm just curious because I have never seen anything higher than 91 at any gas stations)
Ummm, no, it can help. Chevron puts in "Techron" additive into their gas. Which is basically a diluted version of the stuff in BG-44K and it does keep fuel injectors cleaner tha other gas. No mileage improvements per se, but the engine runs better.ttsupra26 wrote:I don't think your gas company makes a major difference.
BG-44k have changed their formula.....for the worse. Doesn't contain the strong cleaning agents like the old forumula does which sucks.szhosain wrote:

Ah! I did not know that ...NightRiderQ45 wrote:BG-44k have changed their formula.....for the worse. Doesn't contain the strong cleaning agents like the old forumula does which sucks.
I don't know for sure. You should at least use the stronger version of the Chevron Techron that is sold - there are two different bottles (I forget the exact info on the bottle).Double E wrote:So if it changed for the worse, is the bottle of Techron I'm adding every so often about as good as I can do myself?
I would use Redline S-1 or Gumout Regane. Redline contains 30-50% of cleaning ether while Regane contains 30-40% of cleaning ether which a OTC product.http://www.redlineoil.com/msds/43.pdf - Redline S1http://msds.walmartstores.com/cache/25030_1.pdf - Gumout ReganeDouble E wrote:So if it changed for the worse, is the bottle of Techron I'm adding every so often about as good as I can do myself?
