I had searched a while ago and came up with some posts that I thought stated that the bearings were pre-pressed onto the hub I believe, for the front. I just wanted to clarify this because I think the reasoning was that it is more precise coming from the factory. I may be wrong but I cant prove it because for some reason the archives are gone...nowhere to search anymore. I am looking to buy the front bearings anyway but wanted to clarify.

I have been getting lots of growling noise between 20-30 mph and we know it couldnt possibly be the tires. The tires are Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's on 17" BBS wheels. These are expensive tires, about $240-70 per tire, so I would think they wouldnt create this kind of noise.

I believe you are correct. Search has been progressively crippled by half hearted attempts to "improve" it.

Just got a set of those in 18" from TR on sale couple of weeks ago.

Brian, you are switching from Michelin ps2 to Goodyears? Why?

Actually there were some Dunlop Direzza D101 in between, a truly awful tire that couldn't hold up. Scathing review in IG tire sticky soon.

Szhosain likes the Goodyears F1 DS (?) and TR was moving the 254/45-18 out the door for $200 each + a $50 kick back. With a load rating of 100, decided to try them. The 255/40-18 only have a 95 load rating, so P2 would be my choice in that size as it is an XL rating of 99.

Z has the PS AS on his Y34 and doesn't particularly care for them, but needed AS for some pass work in the Sierras earlier this spring. He will probably try the PS2 next.

So how many miles did you get out of the PS2? They are 200 treadwear rated correct?

Maybe 220. Off the top of my head, about 22K.

I was going to guess 30k life down to 2/32 based off my experience with other Michelins{about 15k per 100 units of treadwear rating}

You can buy the bearings and hubs separate but you can buy them as an assembly which i would definitely recommend.

If memory serves theyre about 100.

Would there be any physical difference between buying them as a single unit or taking them to a machine shop and have them press them in?

no i wouldnt think so. id go with the method that works the best and is easiest for you. For most people I'd think itd be easiest to just buy the whole shoot n' match and R/R
