I believie I undertand the basics for the s14 CAS (signal utilized by the ECM to control spark and fuel injection, signal type, etc.) Currently, I am in the process of modifying an s13 transmission for an '96 s14 chasis. I am aware that I have to drill a hole for the CAS and mounting screw. I am questioning the allowable tollerance for the placement CAS in relation to the flywheel. Hopefully, somebody is able to provide some input on this issue.

Thank you,Kevin

I'm not an SX guy but why and when did they put the CAS in the bellhousing? so that would mean the flywheel is made to cerve as the trigger wheel? is it a 36-1 set up like ford runs?

I know the S13 both single and twin cam versions use an optical CAS similar tot he ones they have been using in Z's since 83, I can't imagine why they would have changed ti to a flywheel mounted cas?

You are correct. It seems many people freely interchange the 'crank angle sensor' term with the actual crank positition sensor (CKPS). After further review of the FSM, the CKPS is a part of the OBD system and does not directly control the engine system. The camshaft position sensor (CMPS) retains the S13 setup (LED and photo diodes) and controls fuel injection and ignition timing. Thanks for your input and clarification.
