What would y'all say is a good threshold for horsepower for a car that is a daily driver, but still able to hold it's own at the track on the weekends?

Depends on the engine..... NA I would say 500HP with 420+ Tq, thats even high and loosing grip.

Force induction with time to spool I'd say 600HPLow spool induction id say about 450-500HP

Depends on the setup and trans too.

I'm planning on doing a KA-T setup with an engine rebuild, aftermarket internals, and all the goodies- probly use like a Garrett GT30 turbo.

Boosted 250-320whp is a fun car on street tires. Anything higher than requires sticky tires.

How could you even control 500+ HP or even 400+ HP on the street? And not to mention in a car that's under 3K lbs! IMHO anything above to 400 HP in a 240 as a DD is asking to die. Not to mention the gas mileage either.

so probly like 250-300 would be a good D/D-Track hybrid?

300whp, you'd be in the low low 12's more then good enough for street use. not many production cars do it faster then that and if there are some then I am SURE you won't see many/race any

If you have the funds why not buy a like a crx(good on gas) to DD and go all out on the 240.

Matters how much the car weighs, but for a 240 I would say 320-350

Don't have the funds to be able to buy 2 cars, and pay for insurance and the such on both. I'm probably gonna put in some aftermarket pistons and rods and the such though when i rebuild and turbo it, so that later on there isn't much more besides a tune and a checkup on the compression and such of the cylinders to be able to push it to some more hp.

Any amount of power that spins your tires at 20% of the throttle at corners.

As much power as you can control EVERY day. Track cars are fun cuz you can rag the piss out of them, then go home and drive your DD and know it's good. But a DD/Track car, be conservative if it has to be your DD........ sooooo 900whp is acceptable That 300 (give or take a few) whp range is the sweet spot for a multi purpose car. And get those numbers on a good set up and tune please, don't make 300 whp on 30psi or something like that. It won't last. I hate people just going all boost to make power, it's lunacy! Sorry for the rant. Good luck on your project man and enjoy!

simple solution: boost controller

engine is built for high power, but turn the boost down on the street

280-320 ish for street low boost, 400+ for track high boost...can easily be done
