Ok, how bad is it to run your car with no thermometer. All it does is regulate when the water flows into the block right? so what if the block has constant water flow. anyone?

I've heard of people doing it and I don't think it will hurt the engine, but it helps the engine build heat faster. Why don't you want to put one in?

well I just had to replace the OEM one and it was very rusted, although im sure it was the radiator more than the thermo. but either way i wouldnt want it to obstruct water flow. i live in southern cali and our summer season is HOT! so i dont think it would be much of a problem, thanks either way!

To start with So Cal is only warm try Vegas at 110 or places in AZ that reach 115 or more

You do need to run a thermostat in hot or cold weather. In cold it keeps the engine at a good operating temp.

In hot weather the restriction of the thermostat slows down the flow of water through the radidator giving it time to be cooled. If you run the water through to fast it will not cool and eventualy it will overheat.

If you insist on running without the thermostat (not recomended) then what you need to do is punch out the center so that the outer body will still restrict water flow.

Just remember that if you didn't need a thermostat the factory would not have spent the time and money to design a houseing to put one in.
