1996 240sx, 2.4 dohc...been running great from day one, bought new off showroom...heard a small pop sound-stalled suddenly in traffic w/no warning or prior indication of trouble. would not restart, would crank but not start- could not push start-fuel delivery excellent, plenty of pressure - NO SPARK. hear a clicking sound, sounds like electrical arc-very fast seems to be coming from connection point in wires going to injectors, can even physically feel the clicking at connection-mechanic checked distributor, coil, ignition- all good- narrowed down to cam position sensor, also found 10amp fuse blown- replaced sensor and buss fuse- car ran great for 2 days and did the exact same thing again-when this happens car behaves weird electronically, and looses battery power very quickly - any thoughts???

I had to re read your post a few times. stressed? heres what I understand. you pinched the fuel line for checking fuel pressure? the injectors clicking is normal they do that. how did the mechanic find that the cps was bad? how do you know you have no spark?? what 10 amp fuse is blown? that would help us to see what area to look at. what do you mean " car behaves weird electronically"?? and loss of battery power?? do you mean the when the car acts up, and stalls you try to crank it over it seems the battery is dead???? the only thoughts that I have is you need to explain yourself in more detail. cause diagnosing a car that we cant see in person is a very hard thing to do.

the first time the car broke down the mechanic came out to look at it before we towed it to his garage, he pulled the gas line and had me start it to make sure it was getting gas it was (he said he later checked the actually pressure using a gauge at the shop and it was @spec)...he then checked for spark, he did this by pulling a plug and using a screw driver somehow propped against the engine block & inserted into the plug wire and once again having me turn the ignition (I'm assuming he was looking for arc and there was absolutely nothing...again, he tested this again once the car was at the shop...@the shop he told me he checked and ruled out the distributor, ignition coil, power transistor & resistor...as for the 10amp fuse, I'm not sure, I'm not at the shop and can't reach him, there is only two 10amp fuses, they are for the egrc solenoid valve.fuel injection system (both lean & rich side), the front heated oxygen sensor & rear heated oxygen sensor- idol air control valve, auxiliary air control valve, & closed throttle position switch - they may run other things but thats all i've been able to determine -i am not a mechanic though! when the car stalled 1st time i was accelerating, the second time i was @ a stop light and taking off from a stopped position - when it stalled, all the dash indicators started flashing and with in minutes, the battery goes dead...the battery was tested the first time and determined to be fine - I've not spoken to the mechanic yet, just tried to call, not sure how he determined cam position sensor was the problem

he said he narrowed it down to a wiring short in the harness coming out of the ecm, he said he was checking connectons on the harness and when he pulled on a certain set it would blow the ten amp fuse and cause the problem again, he said he was able to duplicate the problem three times, and that he narroowed it down to a six inch area of these wires...BUT>>he then called me back 2 hours later and said he couldn't find the short and now couldn't duplicate the problem any more...i told him to drive the car for a few days and see what happens..he assures me the distributor is fine????
