Well for starters, do you have a sohc digital cluster or a dohc digital cluster. If you have a dohc cluster, you would have to swap out the tach. It's very simple to install. You are going to have to drop your steering column down to get the gauge out. Also, do you have the sub harness for the digital cluster?

Digital tach and analog tach are NOT the same in size. Analog tach is slightly bigger than digital one. It's hard to notice, so you can swap it out if you have to.

Yea didn't notice that when I swapped out my analog tach into my sohc digital cluster. At least it works for me haha. That's good to know though.

As to tell, the sohc has a lower redline compared to the dohc. I believe the sohc is at 6 to 6.5k where the dohc redline is at 7 to 7.5...(I can't exactly remember been away from the 240sx for a while )

Do me a favour. Turn your caps lock if you can. I understand if you're at work and have caps lock perma-on, though.

I also fixed your thread title to get rid of the all caps.

If you get a digital cluster and a sub harness, it's a direct swap with no modification or soldering. After that, I'll see what happens to your tachometer and go from there. I have some experience with digital cluster, and I'll try to take some pics for you soon.

No, you are not a pest at all, and you don't have to pay anything. We are here to help you, so feel free to ask any questions.

Some old pics that I took when I was working on mine.

Sorry for the delay. Yes, you can buy them from a dealership, but it's going to be very expensive. Junkyard or eBay is your best bet, but it's not going to be easy to find one in perfect working condition. Anyway, I'll take some pictures tonight and post.

Nemo have you had to do the repair on your HUD speedometer? I have two HUD clusters and neither speedometer works . Just wanted to see how hard it was to replace that capacitor. Off subject...where did you get your trunk liner and do you have the part number? Thanks.

I found a JDM digital cluster with a low mileage(around 30k) and just swap the power supplies. That was pretty easy fix. Otherwise, I would have swapped the capacitors.

I'll have to get back with you on this one tonight. You need special pins/clips to install it too. I have part numbers for both. I've updated power folding mirror thread, so check it out if you haven't done it yet. I've also found a driver's side mirror, so let me know if you still need it.

Thanks man! Think I'm gonna do the capacitor fix on my HUD. I bought a JDM K's trunk lid w/spoiler but the liner was removed so I'd like to get one. As for the mirror I still could use it as well. Thanks a lot! Sorry for the thread jack zeppy.

I have a digital cluster with the HUD unit and trim piece and the speedo works on it great so does the hud. i just bought it a few months back from a guy in cali but i didn't keep it in my car for one, because i didn't have a HUD dash, the tach was SOHC and didn't work right, and the subharness looked like it had been hacked 50 million times, so the illumination at night would flicker on and off, so annoying.

other than that, i think i have the parts of it that you are in need of, and its just sitting in my garage in pieces. $50

here's a pic of it a couple months ago...

also...they dont have low washer fluid lights like the analog cluster does, and i use washer fluid like crazy, especially when a jacka$$ is following too closely

Alright, here you go. These are all you need.

Digital cluster. Back side looks like this.

Sub harness. You can pull out the analog cluster harness and replace with this one. Part# is 24013-40F10.

HUD unit and a cover that go to top of the dash. Harness can't be separated from the HUD unit.

You hook them up like this.

Close up.

It's a plug and play as long as your digital cluster works and you make a hole for the HUD unit on the dash.
