I'm not sure how this proves the HP rating, but what it does do is prove that the new R can move around Nurburgring pretty damned fast.

There was an article/thread/something somewhere that said the dyno actually put the wheel hp somewhere in the 490+ range, but I can't, for the life of me, remember where.

Somewhere I saw somebody post up some dyno charts. Or maybe it was in a magazine. At any rate, it was making on average, about 430@wheels. Which, if you do the math, should really be about 524 hp @ crank (using an estimated 18% drivetrain loss). So either the HP rating is drastically understated, or Nissan found out how to only loose 9% of power through an AWD drivetrain

Drivetrain losses are minimized by the dual driveshaft design, but I don't think they're in the 9% range...

I read that the drivetrain loss will be minimal around 10% or less due to a better wheel bearing and some other stuff. I'll try and find that source again.
